A new year bring with it new hope. Hope for a fresh start. New dreams. A reset. Time to reflect. New plans to write across a fresh new calendar. 
 
But for many of us, there’s this thing called doubt that makes us hesitant to hope and dream. We’ve been here before and remember how hope can fade into feelings of inadequacy. Someone will get sick, plans won’t go as planned, and we will wonder why we ever thought things would be different. Why we got our hopes us.
 
Disappointment and set backs come and our confidence fizzles. And somehow self-doubt convinces us that it’s all our fault – we’re just not disciplined enough, smart enough, good enough, or _______ “enough.” 
 
But that’s simply untrue and unfair to our hearts. Life never goes exactly as planned for anyone. Not even the strongest, smartest, most organized people in the world have a life without frustration. Life is full of ups and downs but it doesn’t mean we should give up or toss out hope and stop dreaming all together.
 
 With {Christ} all things are possible, and when we believe it hope wins!
 
God doesn’t want us to stay stuck. He created us for a life that isn’t limited by doubts or held back by disappointment. {I’m preaching to myself here!} 
 
All through scripture God calls us to have confidence and hope. To keep believing, trusting and moving forward,
 
For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Jer 29:11
 
But blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord, whose confidence is in him. Jeremiah 17:7
 
The Lord is my strength and my shield; my heart trusts in him, and he helps me. Psalm 28:7
 
These are just a few of the promises we’re going to unpack and wrap around the realities of our everyday lives as we walk through my Confident Heart devotional together. Yes, I’m hoping you’ll join me!!

    Happy & blessed new year!

    I have had the book ever since it first came out. For some reason, even up to this day, I have no idea why I never finished it. I absolutely love reading, learning, and love participating in Bible Studies.

    I really hope I’ll be able to participate this time, however, It depends on the status of my mother.

    My mother is on Hospice care. Yesterday she could say my husband’s, my older sisters, and my name when I asked her to repeat them. She is German and occasionally will speak in her native language. I’m glad I’m here, not only to be with her but, I’m the only one out of the 5 siblings left who can speak and understand German. So I’ve been translating for everyone.

    I’d asked if she was hot and she said yes, or cold she would say “nein”, which is “no” in Geman. Or she’d shake her head from left to right and say “no” in English. Today, sadly, she isn’t responding to my questions anymore. She is mumbling what sounds like mama, Mutti, and Opa.

    I only mention this to ask for prayer for my mother.

    I thank God that I listened to Holy Spirit relentlessly urging me to share the Gospel with her 5 years ago. I praise God that she answered the call and accepted Jesus as her Lord and Savior. Tonight I have the comfort of knowing that when my mother leaves here, instantly she’ll be with Jesus. Hallelujah! I didn’t have that peace or assurance when my father passed away.

    May I ask you (and all others reading this post) to please pray for reconciliation and restoration of our (sibling) relationships with each other? My mother has been waiting broken hearted since 1994 when she lost her life partner, and husband of 54 years, our father to see this happen.

    I’d like us all to be together with her at the same time so we can honor her while she’s still here with us. She’d always told me that’s all she wanted–to see all of us siblings back together and getting along.

  7. If you had the online talks at night I would be able to watch live. I am in Australia and we are 16 hours ahead of you. I understand that this might not suit most people and I will still watch the rerun. It would be fun to take part in the questions etc though. No pressure! 🙂

    • Thank you for sharing your preference and availability!! And welcome to the study from Australia!!

      I’ve decided to vary the times for the live videos a little, so that different people can join in as their schedule allows. Most days 10am ET will work best for my schedule. but some days I’ll be able to go live in the evenings. I’ll just need to see how it works with my little girls bedtime and husband’s schedule as we go along. 🙂

    • Hey KanIre’m using Urban Decay Primer Potion at the moment, but I’ve almost finished the tube and I’m going to get the Too Faced one instead, I’ve read a few good reviews of it and I think this sort of product is definitely worth having!Bx
