I’m so glad you’re here! In case we haven’t met, here’s a little about me: to my favorite place to be is on the lake or in the North Carolina mountains with my family or friends. I met my husband, J.J., while he was in college at Virginia Tech. We were best friends by the time we started dating in December 1992 and we got married the following September, 1993.
We have three children, two daughters-in-love and two fur babies: Our son Josh (27) and his wife Brandi, our son Andrew (24) and his wife Hannah Rose and our daughter Aster (13), who we adopted from Ethiopia when she was a baby.
My official bio says I’m an author, conference speaker, former executive director and radio co-host with Proverbs 31 Ministries, and a writer for (in)Courage (a division of DaySpring). But those who know me well would tell you I am a people-loving, adventure-seeking friend and mom who loves Jesus, her family and being outside. They might also mention I can be a mess and have been known to take my dogs medicine (accidentally) and call the fire department more than once.
My passion is to encourage and equip women, moms, and girls to overcome self-doubt and live in the fullness of their God-given purpose, gifts, and potential, roles and relationships—and empower them with courage and confidence to make a difference right where they are, with what they already have

I am thinking and praying about using your dvd for my Christian Women’s Connection group. Do you have any study notes to go along with the video? Our Christian Women’s Connection is a ministry well known in the USA and we have several meetings Internationally. We have women give their testimonies that have been approved by one of our representatives and give an opportunity to women attending to invite Christ into their life. This ministry is close to 80 years old. I will appreciate if you have any notes to followup with each presentation you give of the Confident Heart.
Thanks,

Can I still get the 100 promises of God to personalize
I love your Manger of My Heart.
As you have rightly copyrighted this lovely poem, I am writing please to seek your approval for me to include this in small home-made Christmas Cards for the ladies in my Bible Study Group.
This is purely for home use only and the cards will be printed and handed out personally to the ladies, not sent by email or other technical service.
I do hope this meets with your kind approval.
Sincerely
I just finished “The Confident Heart”. What a blessing!!! I love your writing, it was like getting a letter from a good friend. I borrowed the book from my library (Overdrive),and I have to have one of my own to refer back to (can only take so many notes before I’m copying the whole book). The Confident Heart is on my Must Have list.
Thank you for being you, And I thank the Lord for you.
Lisa, I am just seeing your note and am so encouraged by your words!! Thank you for taking time to share with me what you experienced reading A Confident Heart and how it made you feel like you were reading a letter from a good friend. That is exactly what I hope and pray for when I write. I’ll be there on those pages ready to cheer you on and encourage you in the days ahead and hope you get a copy of it in print soon. Merry Christmas ~Renee
Stay means to get close to Jesus and listen to what he has for me. Lately, this season right now is really hard. I do not know if I am coming or going. No sleep some nights, then finally sleep and sleeping all day. I want to give all my fears to Jesus but days I just don’t. So I need to stay close to him.
Renee,
Trying to leave a comment about the book Stay Stay means being still. Not running to Netflix, TV, computers, etc. Just being alone with God & snuggling up with Him. Listening to His still small voice calm you. No more noise or worldly distractions. Just you & God in a super quiet environment.
Hi Renee!
I bought your books, A Confident Heart and A Confident Heart devotional several years ago during a difficult season in my life. I have returned to them from time to time most recently now..lol. I want you to know that I am so thankful God has and is using you to speak directly into my heart and mind. I am encouraged and strengthened every day. I love praying the prayers you provide particularly “I am no longer one who shrinks back and is destroyed but one who believes and is saved (Heb 10:39)
Thank you for being you and sharing your heart with all of us. I am thankful for your daily encouragement through your experiences and God’s word❤
I feel like every time I picked up the book and read a little more, I read something that I truly needed. Today In particular I had a very busy day and hadn’t got everything done, that I needed to get done. I got to work and opened up the book to chapter 9 “When Doubt Whispers I Can’t Stop Worrying”. My mind was whirring with thoughts and I was finding it hard to calm down. The more pages I turned the more calm I got. That chapter was like a breath of fresh air. I have gained so much from this book and will continue to look back to it, I also can’t wait to give it to some of my friends that I see struggling with their confidence. This book was just what I needed. Thank you Renee for sharing so much and showing me the path of a confident heart through God!
I would love to receive your email encouragement!
Thank you!

Have a blessed Christmas! I’m having a party tonight for a prayer group I’m in and I copied your Manger of my Heart Poem onto some Christmas stationary to give to each one as a Christmas blessing (with credit to you). I hope that is ok. It’s a beautiful poem. Thank you.
Are you related to the Swope family from Miami?
Renee,
My wife got your book through a women’s group at our church. She has been working a lot of extra hours an hasn’t started reading it yet. After about a month I decided I would read it. I would like to mail you my answers to the questions at the end of the chapters to you. Maybe to encourage you or to encourage someone else.
Best Wishes
I came across one of your quotes about faith and fear, and wanted to find out more about you. I see that I’m doing some things you’ve already done. I look forward to gleaning from your experience.
Myvbrother and I have just placed my mom in an assisted living facility. I was living with her and my brother and his wife would come in and help. My brother has cancer and is no longer able to make the hourly trip to and from town to help out. My moms house is,being sold to pay for her care and I am living with friends until I can figure out what I am going to do.. I have been doing things that God would not approve of, so I am also trying to straighten out my life. This is a time of grave uncertainty and self doubt. I want to change my life and please God, but I doubt my ability to live on my own. Would appreciate any words of wisdom or encouragement from others. I am reading your book now and find it uplifting. Please help me learn how to truly believe that God works all things together for those love Him and are called according to His purpose. God bless you and thank you for your reply.

Hello Renee! I hope you and family had a very blessed Thanksgiving! I miss you so much! I would love to stay connected to you! So much has happened to me since we last talked. I was in a serious car accident last year! I still have really bad headaches! God Bless You Always! I would love to sit on your pouch with you drinking coffee with pumpkin spice creamier! I would love to meet you sometime!
I bought a day planner and a quote from you was in it. I loved the quote but what caught my attention was your last name. My maiden name is Swope. I know that it’s hopes are more common out east but here in Idaho they’re not very common. So I was tickled to see someone with the same last name. I know that sounds silly but it was fun to potentially see a connection. A link to ancestry.
Hi Renee,
Could you please send me the Scripture Prayer Cards (Printable)? I would love to give this as a gift to my mom for part of he Christmas present.
Thank, so much,
Peggy Henderson (pegsterlovesHim@gmail.com)
Renee, so sorry to hear about your car being stolen. I know that God can and will use it for good. Maybe the person/people that were supposed to hear your testimony at Southaven weren’t there Friday night, or perhaps the policeman that took the report was supposed to meet y’all, or possibly even the thief who took it will one day hear what he did was meant for evil but God brought a blessing out of it and used it for His glory. I hope you get to find out this side of heaven. If not, God knows and when you sit down at His table, one day, He will remind you of this crazy weekend and say,” Renee, my sweet baby girl, let me just show you how I used this mess to draw these people closer to me. And look sweetheart, even you were drawn closer to Me by leaning into Me during this time.” What a loving and gracious God we serve! It’s all about relationship. Thank you for coming to speak in spite of all the excitement going on at your house. You will be blessed by simply being obedient. Many blessings. Love in Christ, Emma Evans
I have just started the book A Confident Heart and I think it is going to be the very thing that I need to get me “LIVING” again.
I tried to subscribe to the 7 day doubt diet to my email but didn’t see a place to click subscribe.
Hello Renee! About 5 years ago I did the “A Confident Heart” study thru Proverbs 31 Ministries and it was such a wonderful experience. I can truly say it changed me and started me on the road to a closer relationship with God. I “met” some wonderful Godly women via the OBS that I still consider dear friends to this day.
I was wondering if you were going to be doing another on-line study for the book. I wouldn’t mind a refresher……I’m sure other women feel the same. Thank you for your time and God Bless! <3
Renee,
I recently contacted Proverbs 31 Ministries regarding a list of bible verses I received when I signed up for their e-mails approximately 3-years ago. The list was 31 bible verses that you could add someone’s name to and give as a gift. Jeanne Spencer responded by stating that she recalls you oversaw this promotion and recommended that I contact you. Jeanne felt that you would be certain to respond and forward the requested listing.
I can be contacted at ccarlson8@wi.rr.com or by calling 262-349-5948. I look forward to hearing from you.
Have a blessed day.
Christine
