What I really love doing during my spare time is listening–listening to soothing Christian music, my recordings of unforgetable life events, friends telling me about their day and sharing with me their burdens, a loved one’s wise counsel, inspirational text or e-mail messages, the chirp of little birds and the rustle of leaves, and, of course, God’s still and sweet voice in the silence of my heart.
I praise and thank the Lord that though I may have lost my sight, He has allowed me to savor this gift not only of the capacity to hear, but more significantly, of the ability to listen.
