My friend Heather is a Word girl!! When she was in college she performed in over 14 plays and memorized hundreds of lines, so I’ve asked her to share some tips to help us hide God’s Word in our hearts this week. Here are a few she shared. I’ll post more each week.
Ideas for Memorizing Scripture
- Write the scripture on several index cards or post-it notes and place them in areas where you will see them frequently throughout the day. Examples: on the bathroom mirror, refrigerator door, in the car, at work, etc…
- Get a stack of index cards and on each one write one or two words from the verse, including the reference. Shuffle them up and see if you can put them in the correct order again. Save the cards and reuse common words found in other verses.
- Send the verse to friends and family by typing, texting, or writing it out by hand. You can look at the verse, but do not copy and paste! Try writing it at least once a day.
- Study with a friend, your spouse, or teach it to your kids! Quiz each other and keep each other on track. What a great way for families to spend time in the Word together!
- Change the wall paper on your computer to an image that has your Bible verse.

DAY 3 Looked up 3 different versions of the scripture and wrote it in my journal.
Day 4 Wrote down scripture 10 times in my journal
Day 5 Read the chapter and journalese my thoughts.
Day 6 Wrote the scripture 3 x by memory in my journal.

I’ll take the challenge! I’ve set both Psalm verses (90:14 & 143:8) as my phone’s home and locked wallpaper.

This is the first time I’ve logged on since the first Monday. What a beautiful verse to greet me!
God has met me in the depths of heartache this week; and I am so thankful to return to this study.
I have two ways of memorizing scripture. I make scripture art – because that requires me to meditate upon the verse and pray over it for extended periods of time; and I post it on cards or post-its around my house in plain sight.
Thank you, Lord, for this verse right now!

I am going to do my best to memorize the verse this week. Loved the video message because I have been looking for love in all the wrong faces and all the wrong places. It was an on time word for me.

I have made a copy of the verse of the week. Then, I added it below my signature that I include on all the emails that I send. I will constantly see it all week which will help me commit it to memory. Plus, I will send it to all my friends and relatives too.

Since I use my iphone so much these days for work I set up a reminder each day with a bible verse. Right now I am focusing on 1 verse everyday – I get reminded at 8:45 am. Have to admit its really cool to get a reminder of God’s word on your phone – a welcomed intervention of God’s word into whatever I am working on during the day.
