Today I want you to meet my sweet and amazing friend Jennifer Rothschild. Jennifer is a wife, mom, national speaker, founder of WomensMinistry.net and author of several books, including “Self-talk, Soul-talk: What to Say When You Talk to Yourself“ as well as “Me, Myself and Lies Bible Study.“
She is also speaking with me on the Girls GetAway Cruise in October {and we’d love for you to join us!! – more details below}. For now, turn up your volume, click on the arrow and join us for some girl-talk:
- Recognize – Recognize if your self-talk matches up with God’s thoughts.
- Refuse – Refuse any self-talk that is not consistent with God’s words.
- Re-phrase – Re-phrase negative thoughts to align with scripture. Tell yourself the TRUTH, and nothing but God’s truth!
When we take these 3 steps, God begins to erase negative self-talk and lies. Speaking of erasers, Jennifer needed one that morning. Before we met, she bent over to pick something up, and hit her eye on the edge of the desk. {Cringe} She had a video shoot that afternoon, and a lovely black eye. So, I whipped out what I call my “magic eraser” makeup and covered it up. Look. You cannot even see the deep dark purple mark under her eye.

I so needed to hear this. I felt bombarded by negative self-chatter, so much that I felt like curling up & hiding from it. Now I can use the three R’s to quiet or maybe even eliminate the chatter!
Beautiful video. Words that I needed to hear even years ago as a little girl. I didn’t have those kind words from my mother – until I went into foster care – just wasn’t always the same.
The Lord, though changed the way I have thought about my mother and helped me be a better mom to my girls.
Thank you, can’t wait to see what we are doing for the summer.
Never forget that you Renee, are in my prayers. The LORD, will bless you and your family.
Have a blessed day!!
Several years ago someone in the church spoke hurtful words to me. For awhile I let them in and they really did damage inside of me. Through my prayer time with the Lord I heard him speak to my heart these words, “Do not receive what I did not intend for you to receive!’ That statement changed everything for me. I no longer accepted those hurtful words because they were not true in the first place. I love who God says I am and that is what I have chosen to believe. Be transformed by the renewing of your mind…. I love that verse! Praise God for His goodness shown towards me!
Thanks so much for all your do. You are an inspiration. (I did both, btw)
Renee and Jennifer~
Thank you so much for this video. I have had an insecurity problem all my life (I’m now 47). I find it so difficult to not take other peoples comments so seriously. I can get 10 compliments but focus on the one negative comment someone said. I will really try and incorporate your 3 R’s into my life. Thanks for your words of wisdom. I really needed this!
Shared on facebook…I needed this today. Been haunted by some hurtful words of others all day. I will be practicing the three R’s from here on out! Thank you!
Thanks for 3 R.. recognized, refuse, and ‘re-phase.I can do all things through Christ. I can have confidence, because I have Christ who lives inside of me. Thanks for sharing your vision, and your many words of wisdom.
I have loved your study! Its the second time to read the book. Thanks so much for doing the on line study. It has helped me through so much in my life. Can’t wait for your next one. God Bless you !
thank you so much for this message I grew up with a critical father and grew up insecure and your speakers words rang true and thank you for the advice you gave in your blog post.
I really enjoyed both the videos of the interview with Jennifer. She is an amazing woman who has not let her disabilities rob her of life. What a testimony to God’s grace! It is encouraging to see how God is using her through this trial and gives us the encouragement to “Press forward” in our Christian walk. We are God’s wonderful creation and it is our connection to Him that gives us worth. May the Lord bless you, Jennifer and you, Renee as you minister to so many woman. I can only put this in an e-mail as I am not on twitter or facebook.
Thank you for sharing your thoughts with ladies, to help us all with negative talk we do to ourselves! We can be pretty mean to ourselves. This has been a time of refreshment of confidence to my heart and soul.
It is so freeing to be confident in WHO I am IN Christ….a time of getting some of that confidence from head “knowledge” to heart knowledge:)! Thank you, and I look forward to e-mail updates, as I’ve already signed up!
Thank you for sharing the video. Jennifer is amazing in sharing the lord. She gives me encouragement every time I hear Her. I am enjoying your book and study especially the word of the week.
Thank you for these powerful and encouraging words. My last child graduated from high school and I am struggling with what is next for me. This reminds me of God’s truths and how important for me to examine my self-talk in light of His truth.
Hi, I put it on my face book page. I am eagerly awaiting the word of the week download. 🙂 God bless you. This is a very good message! Thank you so much for sharing with us.
I love the word of the week download as well! 🙂 I’ve been posting them on the board in my office. I see them every time I sit at my desk. Amazing reminders of what, and who, we are as women in Christ!

Thomas, Ty for sharing…I too struggle with the compliments from my husband…bless you for coming forward and sharing….that shows a lot of what a Godly man you are to feel and see the heart of a women…
Oh, want to add bravery…lol
This morning you talked about a woman viewing herself with god’s eyes. You suggested that our women should accept the complements they receive from their husbands/boyfriends. HOW I AGREE. My wife and I were married a little over 25 years ago. When we married, she was thin and beautiful. Now, after 5 children (four girls and one boy), she isn’t as thin as she was then and there are some giggly bits but her beauty is more amazing now then it was then. She is a great mom and educator. I find myself staring at her sometime and marveling at how beautiful she is. I’m proud to have her on my arm and at my side. There was a time when she poo-poo’d my complements and told me how I was wrong. “Look at me,” she would say. I would respond, “I am and I like what I see.” I’ve never stopped and now she thanks me whenever I tell her how pretty she is, something I do almost every day.
If you truly listen to your husband’s complements and he is a good man who understand how important it is for his wife to feel loved, you may start to see yourself with god’s eyes. I believe god helps me see my wife with his eyes — even thought it is not necessary given how pretty she is.
By the way, she really is pretty — just ask me.
Thank you so much for sharing this, Thomas. God bless you richly! We could say the same about our husbands. As I put on weight, I realize that I am the same person, big or small and the same for my husband. I love him dearly and would rather he lose the weight for his sake. May we all age with grace and love one another greatly and deeply as our Heavenly Father loves us!
Thank you Thomas. Your post makes me wish more men could peak in to the hearts of their wives and know just how much their words mean. You are a good man and a gift to your beautiful wife!!!
Great word! Thank you. Was very happy to share it on FB & I am already signed up for emails.
Great way to start my morning! I so need those three R’s right now!! I shared on facebook and have already signed up to get email updates. SO wish I could join you ladies on the cruise….love hearing all your encouraging words.
