Today I want you to meet my sweet and amazing friend Jennifer Rothschild. Jennifer is a wife, mom, national speaker, founder of WomensMinistry.net and author of several books, including “Self-talk, Soul-talk: What to Say When You Talk to Yourself“ as well as “Me, Myself and Lies Bible Study.“
She is also speaking with me on the Girls GetAway Cruise in October {and we’d love for you to join us!! – more details below}. For now, turn up your volume, click on the arrow and join us for some girl-talk:
- Recognize – Recognize if your self-talk matches up with God’s thoughts.
- Refuse – Refuse any self-talk that is not consistent with God’s words.
- Re-phrase – Re-phrase negative thoughts to align with scripture. Tell yourself the TRUTH, and nothing but God’s truth!
When we take these 3 steps, God begins to erase negative self-talk and lies. Speaking of erasers, Jennifer needed one that morning. Before we met, she bent over to pick something up, and hit her eye on the edge of the desk. {Cringe} She had a video shoot that afternoon, and a lovely black eye. So, I whipped out what I call my “magic eraser” makeup and covered it up. Look. You cannot even see the deep dark purple mark under her eye.

Posters have raised many interesting and plausible poiiibslstes denied us by the blackout. I tend to favor the radioactive Eurabian concession business. It does not seem this ship was equipped for the process of explosive dispersal, but substantial explosive ordinance is not necessary to create tremendous exposive power in a tanker. Nearly emtpty grain silos are incredibly explosive, as well as fuel tanks.

This is a great word and so needed today! Many of us are bombarded with negatives in our families, jobs and everyday lives and being able to recognize, refuse and rephrase these negative thoughts, words and deeds is crucial to walking out our journey with Christ. God is right beside us. He hears us and knows exactly what we need. He wants us to know and always remember that what He says about us is the truth, the gospel and all that we need to focus on! Thank you Renee and Jennifer for the word, the reminders and being obedient to God and following His will by sharing with all of us. God bless you both!
Aubrey says
Thank you for this sweet video and message! Something I needed to hear and I really appreciate it! I will be on the cruise in October and look forward to seeing both of y’all! Very exciting!!

The (3) R’s….what a great tool….I know I will use them next time my self talks negative stuff to me….
-Recognize
-Refuse
-Rephrase
Thank you!
Penni says
I did not hear such encouraging words as the two of you did from your mothers when I was growing up. I try as often as I can to make sure speak I them to my daughters and son. Thank you Jennifer for that reminder that we do have a choice and do not have to accept the negative things people say to and about us. I am so thankful we have a God who, loves us and calls us His own.
Thank you Renee for this study. It has been such a blessing and am sorry to see it end!
Nina says

just watched jennifer’s video on self talk, soul talk and managed to share that. Thanks for sharing and being such an inspiration to others.

Thats good. had to ring a friend today, with a “I don’t want to live the rest of my life on my own” to which she said that, that’s not true because God is with me and she sent me a text (after i lost the phone conection) with Psalm 34: 18 ” The Lord is close to the broken hearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit ” I wish it was always that straight forward to just pick up the phone, say “____” , and the truth just played back with a verse of encouragement!
I tried to share the video on facebook but I couldn’t.
Jean says
oh how gracious is our Father!! How much He knows we need encouragement! I just can never say thank you enough for all you have & continue to share Renee! Like apples of gold in settings of silver…. 😀
I shared this “triple R” link to encouragement will all my friends on facebook.
I just so needed this post this week, am very discouraged and feeling under attack. Seems like I struggle just to put one foot in front of the other, on so many levels right now.
Judy says
Thank you, Renee, for sharing so much of your life and the lives of your friends. It’s always a blessing to be able to identify with someone who has been through some of the same difficulties. Through this study I have been able to admit that I’m not “fine” and that I need prayer and encouragement to get through the difficult times. While driving to the grocery store, I was encouraged by one song (I’ll Take You Back, Lift Me Up, Your Love Never Fails) after another. Matthew West’s song “Hello, My Name Is……Child of the One True King” brought tears. When I start to have negative thoughts while driving, I love to tune into a Christian station and hear God’s promises through music. My prayers are with you and your family.
Celia L. Arenal says
Thank you Renee for sharing the Video, so needed to see that today. I am enjoying the study tremendously and would you believe that I have had so many distractions thorough out the study from Satan almost not wanting me to continue, but I fight back these attacks with scripture and prayer, all negative thought’s and words disappear through positive scripture. We are VICTOURIOS through Christ. Praying for you and your family…God Bless you!
Jamie says
Great message! I really need this today. Yesterday was a day full of negative self chatter and thankfully between yesterdays devotion on Proverbs 31 and your book, I was able to turn to God’s words and promises to help me not be a total mess. I am so thankful to have a list of God’s promises now because that is something that I had been searching for so I can know them, memorize them, and turn to them when I am beating myself up. Thanks, Renee and please know your I am praying for your family.
Tamra says
I so needed to hear this. I felt bombarded by negative self-chatter, so much that I felt like curling up & hiding from it. Now I can use the three R’s to quiet or maybe even eliminate the chatter!
Pat says
Beautiful video. Words that I needed to hear even years ago as a little girl. I didn’t have those kind words from my mother – until I went into foster care – just wasn’t always the same.
The Lord, though changed the way I have thought about my mother and helped me be a better mom to my girls.
Thank you, can’t wait to see what we are doing for the summer.
Never forget that you Renee, are in my prayers. The LORD, will bless you and your family.
Have a blessed day!!
Donna D. says
Several years ago someone in the church spoke hurtful words to me. For awhile I let them in and they really did damage inside of me. Through my prayer time with the Lord I heard him speak to my heart these words, “Do not receive what I did not intend for you to receive!’ That statement changed everything for me. I no longer accepted those hurtful words because they were not true in the first place. I love who God says I am and that is what I have chosen to believe. Be transformed by the renewing of your mind…. I love that verse! Praise God for His goodness shown towards me!
Tracy says
Thanks so much for all your do. You are an inspiration. (I did both, btw)

Renee and Jennifer~
Thank you so much for this video. I have had an insecurity problem all my life (I’m now 47). I find it so difficult to not take other peoples comments so seriously. I can get 10 compliments but focus on the one negative comment someone said. I will really try and incorporate your 3 R’s into my life. Thanks for your words of wisdom. I really needed this!
Kristine says
Shared on facebook…I needed this today. Been haunted by some hurtful words of others all day. I will be practicing the three R’s from here on out! Thank you!

I really enjoyed both the videos of the interview with Jennifer. She is an amazing woman who has not let her disabilities rob her of life. What a testimony to God’s grace! It is encouraging to see how God is using her through this trial and gives us the encouragement to “Press forward” in our Christian walk. We are God’s wonderful creation and it is our connection to Him that gives us worth. May the Lord bless you, Jennifer and you, Renee as you minister to so many woman. I can only put this in an e-mail as I am not on twitter or facebook.

Thank you for sharing your thoughts with ladies, to help us all with negative talk we do to ourselves! We can be pretty mean to ourselves. This has been a time of refreshment of confidence to my heart and soul.

Oh, want to add bravery…lol
Thomas Morrow says
This morning you talked about a woman viewing herself with god’s eyes. You suggested that our women should accept the complements they receive from their husbands/boyfriends. HOW I AGREE. My wife and I were married a little over 25 years ago. When we married, she was thin and beautiful. Now, after 5 children (four girls and one boy), she isn’t as thin as she was then and there are some giggly bits but her beauty is more amazing now then it was then. She is a great mom and educator. I find myself staring at her sometime and marveling at how beautiful she is. I’m proud to have her on my arm and at my side. There was a time when she poo-poo’d my complements and told me how I was wrong. “Look at me,” she would say. I would respond, “I am and I like what I see.” I’ve never stopped and now she thanks me whenever I tell her how pretty she is, something I do almost every day.
If you truly listen to your husband’s complements and he is a good man who understand how important it is for his wife to feel loved, you may start to see yourself with god’s eyes. I believe god helps me see my wife with his eyes — even thought it is not necessary given how pretty she is.
By the way, she really is pretty — just ask me.
Cindy says
Thank you so much for sharing this, Thomas. God bless you richly! We could say the same about our husbands. As I put on weight, I realize that I am the same person, big or small and the same for my husband. I love him dearly and would rather he lose the weight for his sake. May we all age with grace and love one another greatly and deeply as our Heavenly Father loves us!
Renee says
Thank you Thomas. Your post makes me wish more men could peak in to the hearts of their wives and know just how much their words mean. You are a good man and a gift to your beautiful wife!!!
