Here’s a peek inside:
“I can’t do it all! I am not cut out to be a wife, a mom, a daughter, a speaker, a writer and all the other things God has called me to.” I had barely opened my eyes, yet I already felt beat up by feelings of inadequacy. My thoughts were against me, and my feelings were too. About that time, my radio alarm came on and my thoughts were interrupted by Twila Paris. With confident assurance, she sang truth to my soul, telling me it was not a time for fear, but a time for faith and determination. She challenged me not to lose my vision or be carried away by my emotions, but to hold on to all that I had hidden in my heart, and all I believed to be true. Then she reminded me of the most important truth of all: God is in control.1 As my thoughts aligned with God’s truth, my whole perspective changed. I went from feeling afraid to feeling determined, from feeling out of control to knowing God is in control.
Every day we have a choice – to either to let doubt beat us up or to let God’s truth build us up.
In the same way a radio has AM and FM frequencies, our thoughts do too. They are either AM (against me) or FM (for me) thoughts. Honestly, we are often our worst critics and have a lot of AM thoughts. And if our thoughts are against us, our feelings will be too. The next time you get feelings of inadequacy, stop and identify what you are thinking that is making you feel that way. Then compare your thoughts to God’s thoughts found in the Bible. Do they match? If not, find a promise in God’s Word to replace the lie that has filled your heart with doubt and start thinking about that promise. Even say it out loud and pray the words, asking God to make them true for you in that moment.
For instance, when doubt comes against you, telling you that you’re weak and all alone, focus on the truth that God is for you! You can be strong and courageous because the Lord your God is with you. He promises to never leave you nor forsake you. (Deuteronomy 31:6, NIV)
Then why not turn that truth into a prayer – claiming how much God is for you: God I’m so thankful You are for me. Because You are for me and with me, I can be strong and courageous in this situation. You promise You will never leave me nor forsake me. I’m choosing to think Your words that are for me instead of listening to the doubts that so easily come against me. You have full access to God’s power and His promises to live with a confident heart. But it won’t just happen because it’s possible. You have to take action! Just like I tuned into a Christian music station the night before, let’s be intentional about tuning our thoughts into God’s thoughts toward us, today and every day! Lord, help me remember today that You are with me to fight for me against my enemies of insecurity and feelings of inadequacy. In all these things, I am more than a conqueror through Him who loves me. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
When I say: Everything and everyone is against me. God says: I am for you! “What, then, shall [you] say in response to these things? If God is for [you], who can be against [you]?” Romans 8:31 (NIV)

Hi
I am always on the outlook for new material to share with my Ladies Bible Study. I have some very precious and hungry women wanting to learn more on Living for Jesus and what He has to teach us.
I would be honoured to win this book as I know it would meet the needs of some if not all of my ladies.
God Bless
My heart has been broken these last 7 months and I am looking for a way to heal. I think this book would help me.
Steph,
I’m so sorry your heart is broken….remember, God loves you and only he can fill your heart. It took me a long time to fully grasp that..I’ll be praying for you!!!
I would love to read this devotional and share it with my daughter.
Please read the following to see why I would like to have this book. I feel like have been punched in the gut by God. I know He wouldn’t do any such thing, but His silence to my prayers for the past three years has impacted my faith to the point that I struggle with persevering in faith. I lost my job three years ago. I was 55-years-old at the time. I am a true believer is seeking God’s guidance in all areas of my life. I have spent the past three years praying and seeking His will, wisdom and guidance through prayer, bible study and worship. He has never let me down before in this regard, and I know He has bigger plans for me because I wait for Him. In the meantime, my financial situation has become serious. I know the gifts and talents with which He has blessed me, but I don’t how He wants me to use them. I am trying self-employment, but I need help to remain confident, strong and know there is confident freedom that God is walking with me. My day begins and ends with Him in prayer and bible study, but still His guidance and answers seem to be elusive. Your book may help see things differently.
Robin,
I felt drawn to your post…it seems as you’re doing everything “right” as far as living a Christian life, which I admire tremendously, but a verse popped in my head as I was reading your post. I’m not sure of the book, but the verse goes something like this “be still and know that I am God, I will never forsake you” I know that’s not the exact verse but, like I previously mentioned, it rang in my head as I read your post. Everything is on God’s time so maybe he’s waiting for the exact time for your business to take off or maybe he wants you to go down a different path. No matter what, with your strong faith, when you feel the pull in your gut, and listen with your heart, you’ll receive your answer. I will keep you in my prayers!!
Blessings,
Karri
I’m taking part in the on-line bible study of the book and it is providing tremendous encouragement. The devotional will be a great extension of those truths and continued encouragement.
I think this book sounds like a great way to rekindle my faith and confidence in the Lord. I was on fire for the Lord about 6 years ago, and then many trials made me stumble, and slip away. I have been trying to get close to the Lord again, but am struggling to find my way. I would like to gain encouragement and enthusiasm in my Christian walk. I know I am called to more. Thanks for the opportunity for a chance to win this book!
I continually struggle daily with feelings/thoughts of fear, anxiety, depression. I seek Gods guidance through
prayer, brothers and sisters in Christ and His word. What a blessing this devotional can be to myself and so many others, another tool in our tool kit designed and orchestrated by God. Thank you for being obedient
to His calling to reach out to the body of Christ through this devotional,DVD etc. I very much look forward to
hearing your heart beat through His which will bring so much healing.
I am a remarried mother of 3, and everyday life bogs me down daily. Dealing with my ex-husband, our 2 kids, my husband and our child, work, volunteering time at church, and trying to juggle all of this is hard, but this book and it’s lessons have helped in so many ways I could not possibly name them all! I am so thankful for these daily moments that help me remember God is with me through it all!
I would love the devotional because I am currently in the OBS and feel like Renee wrote the book for me :).
I am buying the devotional book for daily affirmation of God’s love for me, and for confidence in Him! I would love to win additional copies to share with my mom; she doesn’t know the LORD and she suffers from depression. I desperately want her to come to a saving faith in Christ and to find her identity and confidence in Him.
I could really use a confident heart right now .I seem to be confused by fear and I am not sure if God is already telling me what to do and it is right in front of me or if he is just saying wait on him .I am in a complicated situation right now and I just want to be obedient but at the same time I feel frozen .
I first learned about you (Renee Swope) on KLOVE! I looked forward to the ONE minute segments on the radio. That one minute painted my entire day with colorful encouragement! There were days where my spirit yearned for more and I anticipated the next time your encouragement was going to be streamed on KLOVE. I recently joined Proverbs 31 Ministry on line! It has been a blessing! I didn’t know you all offered so much to help us along as we run our Christian race. There are some days when my stride and pace are full of strength and other days when I struggle. Your ministry has really help boost my spirit on the days the race is rough and the toughest opponent is yourself. Its funny…I picture your ministry metaphorically as those that stand on the side lines of marathons with cups of water in their hands to help hydrate the runners while they trek through to the finish line. You guys are awesome! Thanks for your devotion to the Lord and to the lives of believers! God’s blessings to you all! Much Love! 🙂
I start each day with Proverbs 31 comments and personal prayers! Each prayer touches my heart and moves me to action!
I would love to win a copy of the new devotional. I have been starting each day for almost the past 2 years now with Jesus Calling, and though I love it, was wanting to look for a new devotional. This seems like the perfect one!
I have read the book through three times already!! It is the most awesome study I have ever been a part of!!! Thanks for the chance to win the devotional book as this will be a gift that will keep on giving to others as I help others to see their way closer to God!!
This would be awesome. I would love to share it with my MOPS group!
I’m struggling at home right now, emotionally. I’m ready for a life change and I need to do something way outside my comfort zone. I’m hoping doing something like this can help!
I need a fresh perspective and renewal in my spiritual and personal life. I think this would be the perfect focused attention I need to move in that direction.
I love this book so far! It speaks to me!!! I’m so ready to erase the doubt and fully put all my trust in God and know that he is always with me. Thank you so much for this book and I’m thrilled for the chance to win the devotional book!
Thank you!!!
So many times, I wake up with GOOD INTENTIONS. I TELL myself God loves me as I am, I can do all things, etc… I am confident inside, and then comes the test and I fail often. “I’m too afraid to teach that class at co op” ” what if I missed God hearing this or that” etc………. This sounds like a great book.
