Here’s a peek inside:
“I can’t do it all! I am not cut out to be a wife, a mom, a daughter, a speaker, a writer and all the other things God has called me to.” I had barely opened my eyes, yet I already felt beat up by feelings of inadequacy. My thoughts were against me, and my feelings were too. About that time, my radio alarm came on and my thoughts were interrupted by Twila Paris. With confident assurance, she sang truth to my soul, telling me it was not a time for fear, but a time for faith and determination. She challenged me not to lose my vision or be carried away by my emotions, but to hold on to all that I had hidden in my heart, and all I believed to be true. Then she reminded me of the most important truth of all: God is in control.1 As my thoughts aligned with God’s truth, my whole perspective changed. I went from feeling afraid to feeling determined, from feeling out of control to knowing God is in control.
Every day we have a choice – to either to let doubt beat us up or to let God’s truth build us up.
In the same way a radio has AM and FM frequencies, our thoughts do too. They are either AM (against me) or FM (for me) thoughts. Honestly, we are often our worst critics and have a lot of AM thoughts. And if our thoughts are against us, our feelings will be too. The next time you get feelings of inadequacy, stop and identify what you are thinking that is making you feel that way. Then compare your thoughts to God’s thoughts found in the Bible. Do they match? If not, find a promise in God’s Word to replace the lie that has filled your heart with doubt and start thinking about that promise. Even say it out loud and pray the words, asking God to make them true for you in that moment.
For instance, when doubt comes against you, telling you that you’re weak and all alone, focus on the truth that God is for you! You can be strong and courageous because the Lord your God is with you. He promises to never leave you nor forsake you. (Deuteronomy 31:6, NIV)
Then why not turn that truth into a prayer – claiming how much God is for you: God I’m so thankful You are for me. Because You are for me and with me, I can be strong and courageous in this situation. You promise You will never leave me nor forsake me. I’m choosing to think Your words that are for me instead of listening to the doubts that so easily come against me. You have full access to God’s power and His promises to live with a confident heart. But it won’t just happen because it’s possible. You have to take action! Just like I tuned into a Christian music station the night before, let’s be intentional about tuning our thoughts into God’s thoughts toward us, today and every day! Lord, help me remember today that You are with me to fight for me against my enemies of insecurity and feelings of inadequacy. In all these things, I am more than a conqueror through Him who loves me. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
When I say: Everything and everyone is against me. God says: I am for you! “What, then, shall [you] say in response to these things? If God is for [you], who can be against [you]?” Romans 8:31 (NIV)

Always looking for new devotions and would love to be able to share with a friend as well.
I am just like many other women who struggle with insecurities. These feeling often hinder my relationship with God and other in my life. I would love this book to help as a resource to gain victory over this issue!
Good morning! I saw your giveaway link and decided to leave you a comment. I call myself “the posterchild for codependence”. Due to many unhealthy factors during my childhood, I created a “black place” inside myself where I saw, felt, and heard nothing except buzzing. I liken this to a sort of walled off capsule inside of me, where there was all the pain, fear, anger and shame that I avoided experiencing. Several years ago, God decided that I was finally ready to deal with those things, and that shell broke open. Along with all those emotions I mentioned came paranoia, delusion, denial, demonic opression, and childlike immaturity. I am a wife and mother of 8 children and had a full-time job. The resulting crash was not pretty. I have spent the past several years since coming out of the delusionary state working very intensely and deliberately in dealing with exactly what your book talks about. There have been various low points along the way, but I can testify that God has used this trial in my life to refine me and purify my heart, but I still need to be very intentional.
LOVED this book!! Can’t wait for the devotional!! It is so perfect for me, at this point in my life, as I struggle to build my business, I definitely could use the daily devotionals to be strong and courageous!
THANKS!!
Count it all joy when you fall into various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience. But let patience have it’s perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing. James 1:2-4
This was where The Lord brought me this morning. I can’t wait to see His final destination for my life. There have been many changes in my life. I would love to read this book and get insight on how to have a confident heart through my journey. It is something I have not had in a very long time if ever.
I love the book & have a friend that I want to share it with!
I would like to win this book so that I can use it as a tool to get past all the anxiety/pain I have endured through life.
I need this book. I want to have a confident heart with God, my family and my friends. Sometimes it seems that insecurities rule my life. I don’t want that in my heart. This book would be a blessing. Thanks!!!!
What an incredible offer as there are so many of us in God’s camp that lack self-confidence! Thank you for sharing your gifts to build the hearts of others! Many continued blessings!
I would love to be able to read this book and then share the wisdom with others!
Having grown up abandoned by my father, taken from my mother by my grandfather, then being constantly “reminded” that nothing I did was ever good enough, I struggle with believing that God believes in me, or even loves me sometimes. I struggle with anxiety issues as well. God put a woman who has the same struggles (even almost identical circumstances) into my life. This book would be an excellent daily reminder that we truly are loved and worthy to God.
I love these new bible study series! It not only has encouraged me but my friends too! Thank you Renee Swope for developing in me A Confident Heart!
Can’t wait to read it! So thankful for this ministry!
I would be over joyed to win this set. My best friend is a few months away from giving birth and was told early on that her child would be special needs.. Each time she has gone back to the doctor the ultrasounds have said something differnt then the first ultrasound.. We know that God is healing this sweet baby and believe that when he is born he will be made whole. This has been a journey for all of us.. We have doubted and trusted and doubted again and in all of this our realtionships have all been made stronger in God. I just feel that these books will help us grow closer to him and to each other. and we will be ble to be better witness and better christians. Thank you for considering us..
I would love to win a copy of this book not only for me but for my mom. My dad died two years ago and I think we both need to read this book! Thanks!
I loved your book, it has helped me see myself differently and begin the process of forgiveness within myself! Thank you and praise God for this book! 🙂
I would love to get the devotional and share with a friend. I do my best to read devotionals and spend time with God each day yet I still struggle with anxiety and depression. I feel a lack of self-confidence in myself and a need a boost to remind me that I am a child of the most high and am a special part of His creation. Devotionals to me are little reminders of Gods help in our life and the words that create the strength we need to survive and thrive. I pray for the Lord’s blessing and for thank Him for blessing you with the talent to create a devotional that can touch so many lives.
would love to win, definitely need it right now.
Renee’s devotionals are the reason I started subscribing to Proverbs 31 emails! As a new momma she calmed my nerves and spoke truth to my heart. How awesome to experience that truth daily! So excited for the devotional!
I am going through a growing period and feeling pretty beat up by the world today, but KNOW beyond a shadow of a doubt that God is in control. I know He has called me to be a stay at home mom, I am walking in faith and praying through the “timing” aspect of it, along with my husband. We are growing in our financial faith. Proverbs 31 Ministry has gotten me through a very tough last 2 years. Thank you to all the ladies who have been giving Godly words and loving, humble hearts that have shared with us.
