Here’s a peek inside:
“I can’t do it all! I am not cut out to be a wife, a mom, a daughter, a speaker, a writer and all the other things God has called me to.” I had barely opened my eyes, yet I already felt beat up by feelings of inadequacy. My thoughts were against me, and my feelings were too. About that time, my radio alarm came on and my thoughts were interrupted by Twila Paris. With confident assurance, she sang truth to my soul, telling me it was not a time for fear, but a time for faith and determination. She challenged me not to lose my vision or be carried away by my emotions, but to hold on to all that I had hidden in my heart, and all I believed to be true. Then she reminded me of the most important truth of all: God is in control.1 As my thoughts aligned with God’s truth, my whole perspective changed. I went from feeling afraid to feeling determined, from feeling out of control to knowing God is in control.
Every day we have a choice – to either to let doubt beat us up or to let God’s truth build us up.
In the same way a radio has AM and FM frequencies, our thoughts do too. They are either AM (against me) or FM (for me) thoughts. Honestly, we are often our worst critics and have a lot of AM thoughts. And if our thoughts are against us, our feelings will be too. The next time you get feelings of inadequacy, stop and identify what you are thinking that is making you feel that way. Then compare your thoughts to God’s thoughts found in the Bible. Do they match? If not, find a promise in God’s Word to replace the lie that has filled your heart with doubt and start thinking about that promise. Even say it out loud and pray the words, asking God to make them true for you in that moment.
For instance, when doubt comes against you, telling you that you’re weak and all alone, focus on the truth that God is for you! You can be strong and courageous because the Lord your God is with you. He promises to never leave you nor forsake you. (Deuteronomy 31:6, NIV)
Then why not turn that truth into a prayer – claiming how much God is for you: God I’m so thankful You are for me. Because You are for me and with me, I can be strong and courageous in this situation. You promise You will never leave me nor forsake me. I’m choosing to think Your words that are for me instead of listening to the doubts that so easily come against me. You have full access to God’s power and His promises to live with a confident heart. But it won’t just happen because it’s possible. You have to take action! Just like I tuned into a Christian music station the night before, let’s be intentional about tuning our thoughts into God’s thoughts toward us, today and every day! Lord, help me remember today that You are with me to fight for me against my enemies of insecurity and feelings of inadequacy. In all these things, I am more than a conqueror through Him who loves me. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
When I say: Everything and everyone is against me. God says: I am for you! “What, then, shall [you] say in response to these things? If God is for [you], who can be against [you]?” Romans 8:31 (NIV)

Have not heard of your book till opening this email, but was already encouraged by what I read. I was blessed greatly this weekend by getting to hear Lisa TurKeurst speak at Women of Faith. I took along a young mom with me that I’ve been mentoring and THIS is a book that would bless her. She gave her heart to Christ this past weekend at the event. Her heart is changing every moment!!! Thank you for what God has called you to share.
Hello laura,

I have been blessed by your blog and by your writings for Proverbs 31 blogs. I am 71 and on this journey with joy in our Abba Father’s grace, mercy, and love. I share you and other Proverbs 31 women with all my beloved ones.
I just signed on to buy the book and enter the contest and found out that the book is “sold out”! How can that be???? I am excited to be a part of this contest and to begin the journey with my daughters as we read your book together. (Also with 10 other retired women who are in a Bible study on 1 and 2 Peter on Tuesday afternoons.
I am chauffeuring a group of middle school girls and a boy to a nearby church youth group on Wednesday evenings. My two pre-teen granddaughters are in the group! What a responsibility! I absolutely love it and am hungering for ways to reach them with the power of the Gospel and Jesus’s incredible ways, truths, and Life … the living water and the bread of Life. HalleluYah!!!
Hi Carol,
So sorry that you received the “Sold Out” message from the P31 office. I just got off the phone with them and their system is inadvertently sending a sold out message to those wishing to buy the book. They are working on correcting the issue. The P31 office will be receiving a supply of the books on October 31st and please re-visit their website later today to pre-order a copy of the devotion. Once again, I apologize for the confusion and thank you for making us aware of the issue.
Blessings,
Donna

I recently purchased Renee’s book for a friend and I but have not yet started it as I am hoping that my BS group (who are largely a group of newly or soon-to-be ’empty nester’s’ might be able to to it together! Now learning there is a study guide would make it perfect!
Encouraging!

Sylvia,
It would be a great book and devotional to do as a group! Empty nests can affect everyone different and this would be great to steer your focus! 🙂

Would love to read this book! My confidence has definitely been shaken as I have struggled with anxiety lately about everything. I just keep praying for God’s guidance in my life. Thanks for writing this book.
I have passed through some very difficult anxiety myself this past year…now I am just combating the fear. Be confident with baby steps. Walk by faith and not by sight! I am on the upswing! I don’t know you, but you are on my prayer list now! Smiles, hugs, peace.
Hello Michelle,
I wish you happiness, peace and love!
http;//www.wouldyouloveme.com/media
Hi Michelle Sorry, but there with you and prayers and peace your way!
I can’t wait to get this book! It will have to wait for a little cash in pocket, but it is on my must have list. I find my self in my late 40’s feeling like I can’t handle anything! Where is that confident, “I can handle anything” (and did,) woman I used to be in my 20’s and 30’s? Having had my sweet children later in life, I am in the midst of middle school challenges, and I struggle to keep up with running the household, work and family life. Trying to pray my way through it,
Kathleen,
Just wanted you to know……………you are not alone. You have God, what few or many friends and family, and the knowledge that at the least I am just like you. Our children are the same age, we are the same age, and I too struggle with household, homework, sports, family life, and I own a business. And I do not know how to say “no” to the church, PTA, sports association, and whatever other community service bites at my heals. I will add you to my prayer list for the next month. I feel your struggles. Love from an unknown sister, Constance
Girl–I’m right there with ya!! I’ve learned to let a few of my kids’ moms into my circle & can call on them for help… I pray you find girlfriends to give you a hand. “God is an ever present help in time of need.” Ps 46:1
Hello Kathleen,
Aparently you have touched a sore spot in the lives of many women. You are not a lone, my dear. But we have help from God almighty…
http;//www.wouldyouloveme.com
Hello Kathleen, Constance and Lisa et al,
Kathleen, you are so not alone. I am old enough to be my kids’ grandmother! I was 39 when I married my wonderful husband and he was 34. I suffered a terrible elevator accident, postponing our attempts to have children. After that, plus 2 miscarriages, I gave birth to our son who was born with Down Syndrome. I turned 44 just 3 weeks later. He is 17 1/2 now. We then adopted our daughter from Romania. She is 15 1/2. I am 61 now. See what I mean?
Anyway, I work full time as a nurse. My husband has a business and travels a bit, my daughter was recently admitted to a psych ward for 10 days and is possibly pre-bipolar. I recently completed 5 months of chemo therapy and am now in radiation treatment for 7 weeks; for breast cancer. I used to believe I could do just about anything. I now know I can not and yet am experiencing such grace from God that I think this has all worked together to draw me closer to Him. Here is what I struggle with and this is the reason I think I need to add this book to my exhaustive “To Do” list; I have been questioning God and last week even had a brief period of being angry with Him. How can He heap all of this on me at once? I am wondering now if He had to crush my own belief that I can do so much on my own. Nevertheless I want to have the complete confidence that I can meet all of these demands and glorify Him with my attitude and with the God Glorious outcomes that He will produce in His time.
Well, sisters, have a blessed day! Isn’t God’s gift of fellowship so wonderful?
The other Kathleen
Hang in there Kathleen,
I am a breast cancer survivor myself. I know much of what you’re feeling. God understands our anger and shock over such a diagnosis. He will be there for you however through all of your treatments. Even when we are angry He understands and forgives us. God has great plans for you! Don’t despair. He’ll be walking right next to you through this difficult time and you’ll come out stronger because of it.
Kathleen,
I pray you get your hands on a copy of the book devotional and place all of your confidence in your King! Thank you for sharing your story!
Blessings,
Lelia

I have been doing Proverbs31 Online Study for a couple of years now and through it God has been changing me. At times it been a hard journey but God is so faithful. Thank you for allowing God to use you in such a way to encourage others. The Quote at the top of the page is so true in my life – “Don’t allow your circumstances to speak louder than God’s word.” My Husband and I just moved to a new community because of my first big job out of college and are trying to seek a church community to be apart of and fellowship with. More lately than ever I needed to be reminded to turn my thoughts towards God which seem to be my biggest struggle and not dwell on my circumstances at the time. Since our move I have been struggling with anxiety and praise God for all he does – I finally found a doctor who is willing to help me with the medicines I have been struggling with for about over 5 years – but I know my mind is more of a battle for me at least than the medications. Thank you again for writing this book I hope to read it. I pray and know it will encourage so many people. 🙂
Tiffany – Congrats on your new job! I will pray for you and your husband as you seek the Lord for a church home to be apart of and for the anxiety. Keep renewing your mind with His Word and Praises!! This scripture helps me – Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will. Romans 12:2
Be Inspired!
This is encouraging, Tiffany!

Tiffany– through reading ACH I found the courage to get help for depression & anxiety. I started meds & professional counseling & am a completely different woman than I was 3 years ago. I am filled with so much hope & excitement over my today & tomorrows even though my circumstances have not changed–God has changed me! I pray He continues to lead you along a healing path. He is faithful to give grace to the humble… I’m so glad you are getting the help you need. Keep gathering here with us on the blog and please let me know how you are doing 😀 Prayers for you, sweet girl.
This sounds like an amazing devo for myself and a young lady I mentor.
Just like our am/fm radio we also have a volume button. Let’s turn up the volume of

I love the daily devotional from Proverbs 31 ministry and I welcome this opportunity to own the Confident Heart devotional. This year is the first year I am on unemployment due to a school closure, and having the devotional would help me keep my confidence as a I search for jobs and have to experience some rejection before I finally find where God wants me to be.
Thank you for making it your business to encourage the people of God
