Here’s a peek inside:
“I can’t do it all! I am not cut out to be a wife, a mom, a daughter, a speaker, a writer and all the other things God has called me to.” I had barely opened my eyes, yet I already felt beat up by feelings of inadequacy. My thoughts were against me, and my feelings were too. About that time, my radio alarm came on and my thoughts were interrupted by Twila Paris. With confident assurance, she sang truth to my soul, telling me it was not a time for fear, but a time for faith and determination. She challenged me not to lose my vision or be carried away by my emotions, but to hold on to all that I had hidden in my heart, and all I believed to be true. Then she reminded me of the most important truth of all: God is in control.1 As my thoughts aligned with God’s truth, my whole perspective changed. I went from feeling afraid to feeling determined, from feeling out of control to knowing God is in control.
Every day we have a choice – to either to let doubt beat us up or to let God’s truth build us up.
In the same way a radio has AM and FM frequencies, our thoughts do too. They are either AM (against me) or FM (for me) thoughts. Honestly, we are often our worst critics and have a lot of AM thoughts. And if our thoughts are against us, our feelings will be too. The next time you get feelings of inadequacy, stop and identify what you are thinking that is making you feel that way. Then compare your thoughts to God’s thoughts found in the Bible. Do they match? If not, find a promise in God’s Word to replace the lie that has filled your heart with doubt and start thinking about that promise. Even say it out loud and pray the words, asking God to make them true for you in that moment.
For instance, when doubt comes against you, telling you that you’re weak and all alone, focus on the truth that God is for you! You can be strong and courageous because the Lord your God is with you. He promises to never leave you nor forsake you. (Deuteronomy 31:6, NIV)
Then why not turn that truth into a prayer – claiming how much God is for you: God I’m so thankful You are for me. Because You are for me and with me, I can be strong and courageous in this situation. You promise You will never leave me nor forsake me. I’m choosing to think Your words that are for me instead of listening to the doubts that so easily come against me. You have full access to God’s power and His promises to live with a confident heart. But it won’t just happen because it’s possible. You have to take action! Just like I tuned into a Christian music station the night before, let’s be intentional about tuning our thoughts into God’s thoughts toward us, today and every day! Lord, help me remember today that You are with me to fight for me against my enemies of insecurity and feelings of inadequacy. In all these things, I am more than a conqueror through Him who loves me. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
When I say: Everything and everyone is against me. God says: I am for you! “What, then, shall [you] say in response to these things? If God is for [you], who can be against [you]?” Romans 8:31 (NIV)

Since learning about Proverbs 31 ministries, my soul has been fed in so many ways — daily devotionals, book studies, on-line Bible studies, power verses, etc. As a mother of young children, I know this would speak to me. My only problem would be deciding with which friend in the same boat to share the second copy!
Margie says

Diane says
Good morning! I saw your giveaway link and decided to leave you a comment. I call myself “the posterchild for codependence”. Due to many unhealthy factors during my childhood, I created a “black place” inside myself where I saw, felt, and heard nothing except buzzing. I liken this to a sort of walled off capsule inside of me, where there was all the pain, fear, anger and shame that I avoided experiencing. Several years ago, God decided that I was finally ready to deal with those things, and that shell broke open. Along with all those emotions I mentioned came paranoia, delusion, denial, demonic opression, and childlike immaturity. I am a wife and mother of 8 children and had a full-time job. The resulting crash was not pretty. I have spent the past several years since coming out of the delusionary state working very intensely and deliberately in dealing with exactly what your book talks about. There have been various low points along the way, but I can testify that God has used this trial in my life to refine me and purify my heart, but I still need to be very intentional.
Elaine says
LOVED this book!! Can’t wait for the devotional!! It is so perfect for me, at this point in my life, as I struggle to build my business, I definitely could use the daily devotionals to be strong and courageous!
THANKS!!
Hope says
Count it all joy when you fall into various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience. But let patience have it’s perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing. James 1:2-4
This was where The Lord brought me this morning. I can’t wait to see His final destination for my life. There have been many changes in my life. I would love to read this book and get insight on how to have a confident heart through my journey. It is something I have not had in a very long time if ever.
Karen Fouts says

Debbie says
Having grown up abandoned by my father, taken from my mother by my grandfather, then being constantly “reminded” that nothing I did was ever good enough, I struggle with believing that God believes in me, or even loves me sometimes. I struggle with anxiety issues as well. God put a woman who has the same struggles (even almost identical circumstances) into my life. This book would be an excellent daily reminder that we truly are loved and worthy to God.
Michell Jurski says
I love these new bible study series! It not only has encouraged me but my friends too! Thank you Renee Swope for developing in me A Confident Heart!
Deanna says

I would be over joyed to win this set. My best friend is a few months away from giving birth and was told early on that her child would be special needs.. Each time she has gone back to the doctor the ultrasounds have said something differnt then the first ultrasound.. We know that God is healing this sweet baby and believe that when he is born he will be made whole. This has been a journey for all of us.. We have doubted and trusted and doubted again and in all of this our realtionships have all been made stronger in God. I just feel that these books will help us grow closer to him and to each other. and we will be ble to be better witness and better christians. Thank you for considering us..
Caroline says
I would love to win a copy of this book not only for me but for my mom. My dad died two years ago and I think we both need to read this book! Thanks!
Ginny Vaught says
I loved your book, it has helped me see myself differently and begin the process of forgiveness within myself! Thank you and praise God for this book! 🙂
suzie krueger says
I would love to get the devotional and share with a friend. I do my best to read devotionals and spend time with God each day yet I still struggle with anxiety and depression. I feel a lack of self-confidence in myself and a need a boost to remind me that I am a child of the most high and am a special part of His creation. Devotionals to me are little reminders of Gods help in our life and the words that create the strength we need to survive and thrive. I pray for the Lord’s blessing and for thank Him for blessing you with the talent to create a devotional that can touch so many lives.
Trudy says
would love to win, definitely need it right now.
Amy says
Renee’s devotionals are the reason I started subscribing to Proverbs 31 emails! As a new momma she calmed my nerves and spoke truth to my heart. How awesome to experience that truth daily! So excited for the devotional!
Katie Rettig says
I am going through a growing period and feeling pretty beat up by the world today, but KNOW beyond a shadow of a doubt that God is in control. I know He has called me to be a stay at home mom, I am walking in faith and praying through the “timing” aspect of it, along with my husband. We are growing in our financial faith. Proverbs 31 Ministry has gotten me through a very tough last 2 years. Thank you to all the ladies who have been giving Godly words and loving, humble hearts that have shared with us.
Dana Julian says
I’m looking for a good devotional book to help me with some better direction for my personal Bible study and devotional time. I often feel overwhelmed with so many responsibilities and long to be more like Jesus and more devoted to Him. I love the Proverbs31 devotional emails that I receive daily and would love to read the Confident Heart devotional and book.

I need a confident heart. The valley experience is bearable only because of the God’s unfailing grace and lovingkindness. I am in my mid fifties, separated after 27 years of marriage, alone, isolated and no transportation or financial securitysecurity, so it is difficult right now. I am sustained in prayer and His word, and He takes good care of me. seeking answers. I don’t know. I would love to win and i ask for prayers. God bless you all. I pray especially for those who are walking a valley experience of your own. His Unfailing Grace Sustains.
Karen Bridges says
Dear Renee, You will never know how tremendously and miraculously God has used your book not only for me but for Saving My Marriage! I don’t want to take up to much space to write but on Jan 9th 2009 I found out that my husband of 26 years had been betraying me in the worst most horrific ways possible that a husband could ever do to his wife. I didn’t just find out he was looking at Porn or had an affair although these painful sins were included in his Disclosure to me. No the trauma I faced was thinking I had a loving Christian husband but instead he was living a sinfully double life. Throughout the past 4 years he has disclosed to me that he has had sex at 19 massage parlors, multiple strip clubs, lingerie studios, 2 affairs one with my best friend and was heavily addicted to Porn for many years. And I NEVER knew nor suspected anything. These past 4 years in this Journey of Trauma and Healing has been the hardest most painful things I’ve ever gone through. There were many times I didn’t even want to live. God has used many counselors, women’s groups, and books and materials to help in my healing. But I must truthfully say when I read Confident Woman I wept through the entire book. See all my confidence had been stripped. I didn’t know who I was any longer or what the truth was about me. But your book inspired by the Holy Spirit has provided the confidence and comfort I have so desperately needed on this Journey. I want to say that it is only a miracle and having a Repentant humbled transformed Husband and God also Transforming my heart that we have stayed together through all of this and have been married for 32 years as we Renewed our Vows last year. I have had the priviledge to give your book to family members and friends and they all have been deeply touched and transformed by God’s inspired word through you. Thank you doesn’t seem adequate enough for being a huge instrument in saving my marriage. Please keep writing you never know how your writing will touch so many different women that are hurting and in need of God Confidence! I know today that no matter what my husband should choose to do in the future that I am safe and secure in Christ because He is my Husband, My first love and I am His Princess Warrior! Many Blessings, Karen Bridges
Jennifer says
I am so thankful for my children and the career God blessed me with for 12 years, however a traumatic divorce and on going custody issues have left me drained and a shell of who I once was. I know God has brought me through everything and will never leave me, but I have debilitating anxiety and low self-esteem. Confidence is something this former television news anchor has never been short of or at least I faked it until I made it. But now confidence is something I struggle with daily, trying to find my way once again as a single mother of three children. I would love to share this with another woman who is struggling. I want to overcome and once again be the woman God created!!
Suzanne says
I’m feeling lost and don’t know where to start…my mom, step-dad, and my 20 yr old kitty died all in the last 7 months. I love the Lord and I feel I am a disappointment to my Lord, because I’ve been distracted and have drifted away from being the woman after God’s own heart. I would love to feel more grounded, and feel closer to the Lord. My best-friend and sister in Christ has been by my side through all of my trials. Your devotion book would be a blessing to me, so I can begin on my journey to living the life God’s designed for me and as a thank you for my friend…I would love for her to journey with me through the Confident Heart Devotional. Thank you and God’s blessings to you Renee.
Michelle Weber says
Sounds like a wonderful book! I would love to read it and share it with others! I love the fact that it is a 60 day devotional. Would be great for an intimate woman’s group!
Sherry Holeman says
I would love to win these books for me and my daughter. I struggle with confidence due to abuse I suffered as a child. With God’s help I have overcome negative feelings and work with girls in our church to be overcomers as well. My daughter feels called to be a youth pastor and I think this book would help her as she pursues her calling. Thank you for pouring your heart out into other women to help us know that we can be overcomers and confident women.
Cynthia says
I am very much looking forward to doing this bible study. I have been going through a very tough year, and have struggled to keep my eyes focused on God. I feel like I am barely holding on. But I am holding on! I know I have to go through this illness for a reason, even if it is to simply turn to Him for my strength. I am certain that this study will direct me, and strengthen me – through this , and the rest of my life. I hope to share this with a dear friend who is struggling with her own issues. I know we can help each other through this study. Thank you for your faith, and love. I am excited!

First of all my girlfriend and I are planning to see you next September 2014 in Findlay, OH. We go each year to the Reaching Women Conference there. We are from Windsor, ON Canada. But it’s our girlfriends weekend away. So I am very excited for that. What really caught my attention was this book being good for a friend who has fallen away from God; and sadly my girlfriend has and is struggling deeply. She has just gone through a divorce and depression and began to question God and His existence and significance in her life. It breaks my heart and of course the heart of God. It would wonderful to give her the book and for her and I to be able to read it together and discuss it. II also forward the devotionals that I am on the email list for. Not everyone but the ones I feel led to forward. Thanking for what you do. Be blessed, Mary Davidson

I have been a subscriber to the Proverbs31 Ministries newsletter for many years and it never ceases to amaze me how each topic can be applied to situations that I am currently or have gone through in my life.
This new 60 day devotional is exactly what I need at this point in my life and more specifically, in my new 3 month old love relationship. I believe that God has ordained this relationship, but it is like no other relationship I’ve ever had. For the first time ever, I am involved with a man that has a true heart of God, is more mature than me (is the 1st older man, he’s 53 and I’m 46), is way above me intellectually, and has a God-give knowledge of the Word of God. Needless to say, I am very intimidated by him in that knowledge, even though he encourages me to be more confident. That’s why I say that I believe this book is exactly what I need to take me out of that fear and into the confidence in God towards becoming the woman He has and is calling me to be.

I really need this right now. I am walking through a very difficult time, feeling like everything and everyone is against me. Praying and doing everything that I know to do, but continue to feel crushed and alone. I really need to hear His truths instead of all the lies that are running through my head. Seeking His presence and direction and think this new devo book would help.
Donna B says
Praying for you as God comes alongside you and walks with you through these difficult times. Praying He comforts you and takes away those feelings of being crushed.

I believe that myself and my best friend, Shelly, could both benefit greatly from these books. I have struggled with self-esteem my entire life and moreso recently than ever. I am a mother of three beautiful children, but am very unhappy in my marriage. My best friend is a single mother to two daughters; her oldest, who is 14, is struggling with addiction and is being treated in a Christian facility miles away from home.
Every day is a struggle for me; I am always trying to figure out what God wants to do with my life and try to live as a positive role model for Him, but He is truly challenging my spirit. I know the love of Christ, but have found myself questioning it lately and that is now how I want to live. I want to be confident, strong and free; able to share and show my love for Christ day in and day out!
Telia Carman says
I need more confidence, God confidence! Would love to receive this devotional and even if I don’t win it, will most likely buy it! Thank you for all you do!

Would love this book. Leaving my church after 38 years and being a stay at home mom, I don’t want to miss out on anything inspirational!! I LOVE TO READ! This would help me on a daily basis. I love reading the devotionals in my email daily!! ♥

I’ve been blessed by P31 ministries for many years and have found every devotional and resource to be biblical and practical for building up and challenging women to grow in their walk. I love Renee’s writing. Her honesty and insight are Spirit-filled. Blessings to everyone working there at P31! I look forward to gifting this book to a sister.

I have not heard of this study series and book but I would love to read and study more!!!
MaryAnn Hale says
I am going through the Proverbs 31 Online Bible Study and this devotional would be a nice addition to that. Additionally, I know other women who can benefit from this study.
Marianne Johnson says
WOW! Renee, this could NOT be more perfect timing and just what the doctor ordered! I have been an educator for 31 years, and in a leadership role for the past 7 year! I knew when this leadership position fell in my lap, that God had an amazing plan for me. I know it is time to retire and move into a different career, but I am so afraid! God has recently been calling me to step out of my comfort zone. Two weeks ago God called me to speak at a women’s retreat. I also recently memorized a 10 paragraph monologue and performed this live in front of 500 church members. Both times I have been so amazed at what God was and is doing through my life. Right NOW more than ever I need a confident heart! I am faithful and I will move when God says move, but at times I am so unsure. I would absolutely LOVE to read your book and the new devotional. I saw your book advertrised online this morning and jumped at the chance to send you a message. I am the clay that God is molding!
Tina Ziegler says
I’ve been reding Provers 31 for years and over the last 6 months I have felt as though God has more planned for me. I’ve been praying about what path to take but am not getting a clear answer. I really feel A Confident Heart would be just what I need to boost my insecurities and help me hear Gods word more clearly.
Orenda Smith says
I am doing this study now with Proverbs 31 and WOW! It has open my eyes to so much and I would love to read the devotional along with it…
