Here’s a peek inside:
“I can’t do it all! I am not cut out to be a wife, a mom, a daughter, a speaker, a writer and all the other things God has called me to.” I had barely opened my eyes, yet I already felt beat up by feelings of inadequacy. My thoughts were against me, and my feelings were too. About that time, my radio alarm came on and my thoughts were interrupted by Twila Paris. With confident assurance, she sang truth to my soul, telling me it was not a time for fear, but a time for faith and determination. She challenged me not to lose my vision or be carried away by my emotions, but to hold on to all that I had hidden in my heart, and all I believed to be true. Then she reminded me of the most important truth of all: God is in control.1 As my thoughts aligned with God’s truth, my whole perspective changed. I went from feeling afraid to feeling determined, from feeling out of control to knowing God is in control.
Every day we have a choice – to either to let doubt beat us up or to let God’s truth build us up.
In the same way a radio has AM and FM frequencies, our thoughts do too. They are either AM (against me) or FM (for me) thoughts. Honestly, we are often our worst critics and have a lot of AM thoughts. And if our thoughts are against us, our feelings will be too. The next time you get feelings of inadequacy, stop and identify what you are thinking that is making you feel that way. Then compare your thoughts to God’s thoughts found in the Bible. Do they match? If not, find a promise in God’s Word to replace the lie that has filled your heart with doubt and start thinking about that promise. Even say it out loud and pray the words, asking God to make them true for you in that moment.
For instance, when doubt comes against you, telling you that you’re weak and all alone, focus on the truth that God is for you! You can be strong and courageous because the Lord your God is with you. He promises to never leave you nor forsake you. (Deuteronomy 31:6, NIV)
Then why not turn that truth into a prayer – claiming how much God is for you: God I’m so thankful You are for me. Because You are for me and with me, I can be strong and courageous in this situation. You promise You will never leave me nor forsake me. I’m choosing to think Your words that are for me instead of listening to the doubts that so easily come against me. You have full access to God’s power and His promises to live with a confident heart. But it won’t just happen because it’s possible. You have to take action! Just like I tuned into a Christian music station the night before, let’s be intentional about tuning our thoughts into God’s thoughts toward us, today and every day! Lord, help me remember today that You are with me to fight for me against my enemies of insecurity and feelings of inadequacy. In all these things, I am more than a conqueror through Him who loves me. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
When I say: Everything and everyone is against me. God says: I am for you! “What, then, shall [you] say in response to these things? If God is for [you], who can be against [you]?” Romans 8:31 (NIV)

Yesterday my daughter had a bad day. She is a young mom with two kids and loves deeply. She apologized to me today, but I told her we all have bad days, days we wish we could do over. I believe we would both benefit from your book. I love the way you weave your thoughts together with scripture and allow God to pour his truth into you. This is what we all need to remember “God is in control.” Thank you so much for opening your heart and life to us. It is such an encouragement.
Julia Zielinski says
Doubt in my identity as a forgiven and loved daughter of God and a lack of confidence in myself and any plans God may have for me have been a constant battle for me. I have been working to renew my mind and heart to reflect assurance with the identity I have in Christ, but it is still a struggle. This devotional would be a great aid in my journey. Plus, I would receive the opportunity to share that assurance with a friend.
Jennifer says
I never knew I had a problem with confidence until I started this Bible study. The emails and included verses speak to my soul and I would love to win this package!

I would love to win A Confident Heart Devotional because I’m always looking to grow in my spirit & you have helped do just that as I read your writings in Encouragement for Today & listen to you on KSBJ in Houston Tx. This devotional would be an excellent addition in keeping me focused daily amidst the challenges that come. Also, I would love to have the opportunity to share it with a friend so they may be inspired and motivated as well.

I am excited to get this devotional and one for family members for Christmas. I lack a confident heart and need to remember that my savior loves me no matter what the world says or who else approves of me.
Terri Watkins says
I am a new Christian, and my husband and I have had the calling of Children’s Church Director at Spirit Life Revival Center for the past few months. I’m growing in my faith, learning the love and grace of our Lord and Savior each and every day. It is my desire to become closer to God and live the life he has planned for me. With all the worldly things we are surrounded with these days, it is harder to stay focused on the Word, but I take every chance I get to pray, read, and learn as much as I possibly can. I am discovering things about myself that I never knew, and am learning to let go of old burdens, pain and hurt through His love and comfort. I want to grow in my Christian walk and let the teachings and understandings pour out through me to the children we teach in church. Spreading the Word of God and saving souls is one of the most important jobs in the world, but it all starts with me. This book would help me to continue my walk with Christ and share His Word with the young and old so that they too may start with themselves to spread the Good News to others.

I recently signed up for the 7-Day Doubt Diet series of emails and they were so refreshing. I have felt far away from God in recent years and have been living in defeat. I know that these feelings are illusions from the enemy in a concerted effort to keep me from God’s purpose for my life, but I can’t seem to get to my heart to take heed. I would love to have a copy of this book to help me wade through the lies and once again live in the truth. Be blessed.
Debi Jaskulke says
Thank you Renee! What a blessing! Thank you for the little snapshot of your new devotional! God is in Control! I’ve lessoned to that song and held on to those lyrics through the waiting room of both of my adoptions. I also loved the AM & PM visual too! Looking forward to reading the devotional!!
Phillip Patrick says
I really need this! I know that its God’s will. Thank you Praise God!
Marie says
What a perfect fit this is for me and for my daughter-in-love. I teach a Sunday morning ladies’ Bible group and am looking at this as our next study when we finish the current one.
For my daughter-in-love because my son recently walked out on her. Through this the blessing that has come is she has developed a new found relationship with God and a strength that she never knew. She just shared with me this past week that she knows God is wanting to use her to speak to other women who feel worthless, beat down, etc. She has in mind the battered women’s shelter in our town.
Thank you Renee for being the voice of God in matters like these.
Rita says
Praise God that you are providing a book to encourage women to live more confidently! It is a daily challenge to control our thoughts to let go of lies and hold on to truths from God. When we work as a body to build each other up we become so much stronger and healthier. I am blessed to be in a small circle of sisters in Christ who support each other in prayer. Looking forward to reading your book and using it to pray powerfully and see the Glory of God shine in our lives brighter every day!
Sheryl Gray says
I continue to look for things that I can read that will help me get through the day. I am currently in the on line Bible study for “A Confident Heart” and it is helping me to renew my heart and start looking at things more positively. Since the book is helping me I feel the devotional is something I can read and re-read daily.
Even through my body is broken, my mind and heart don’t have to be broken.
Ann Hicks says
Although I was raised in the chruch as a child, I strayed through most of my adult life. I never stopped believing, just never gave it much thought and went on my merry way. Now that the years no longer stretch out before me as they once did, I find myself wanting a closer relationship with God. For me, that means reading, pondering, sharing and passing on my new found knowledge to others. I would love to win this book, it sounds fabulous and would have one to share as well. Even if I am not selected to win, may God bless each and everyone! Ann

I purchased the ebook A Confident Heart and went through the study with Renee. I would love to have the daily journal to further I walk with the Lord. It took me 60 years to find my way back to the Lord because I could not forgive myself for having a child out of wedlock. I thought the 10 years of abuse from my first husband I deserved because of my sin. After attending a Women of Faith Event in Dallas 5 years ago I finally learned God had forgiven me it was myself that was not forgiving me. So I laid my baggage behind that day and walked out the AA Convention Center with my light shining brightly for God.

This devotional looks wonderful! I am due to have my second child soon and I would love the encouragement everyday. Need to pick up the book. 🙂
Paula Schurr says
I have been working toward being more confident after my heart was broken. With God’s grace I have been doing better. I have been trying to gently encourage a friend to be more confident in the Lord and not let her circumstances drag her down. This book would be a great way for each of us to work together and encourage each other.
Rachel Rickert says
I am struggling with anger, forgiving, trust, loneliness, social anxiety, disappointment, fear of the future, etc. mostly because my husband became an alcoholic and pill popper, threw us, myself & 2 daughters away. His mother is the most manipulative, in denial, plays the victim, favors men, weirdest person I’ve met and she blamed me and couldn’t face the truth about her son. 2 years later, my ex apologized and took full responsibility, finally. He is in prison serving a 6 year sentence for the rape of our daughter then 10 years young, now 14. That is what hurts the most. We were both raised in Christian homes, this was a devastating event for us, besides his lying through his teeth, eye to eye with me for 2 years, before shod revealed the truth and I took my girls and left. Anyway now his mom denies ever bring upset with me even though I have the email she sent me 3 months after I left him, which was attacking me as a person and was twisted with bible verses. I can’t get past this and of course I am skeptical now even more than I’ve always been kinda a critical, negative, melincholy kind of person, like my dad. Ugh, sigh. So needless to say I need help from God. I am interested in reading your book and devotional. God bless and thank you.
Lauren says
I would love a copy of this book because I know God is calling me to something and stirring inside of me to stand up despite the way my life has turned out. I know He is telling me the time is now and I need to move. I think the timing of this devotion is perfect for me.
Erin Boling says
This excerpt excited my heart! Over the past year I have discovered what a “head case” I am and how much my doubts, fears, insecurities have kept me from being the woman God created me to be and from living the life He has planned for me. This book sounds like something that will support my journey into breaking through the barrier that is my mind. THANK YOU!!!!
Lindsey says
I would love to be the winner if this drawing!
DaLania says
This is just what I have been looking for. 🙂 I want to be an example to both of my young daughters, especially to my 12 year old and all of the worldly “stuff” that she sees and hears everyday. This would be a wonderful gift.
Rebecca says
I have enjoyed reading the book A Confident Heart, I can honestly say it is the first book I’ve read outside the Word of God that has been life changing for me. It was exactly what I needed in a major time of transition for me. I can only imagine how the devotional will keep my mind on the promises God has given me. I am buying the book for a friend and would love to be able to give her a devotional to go along with it.
God Bless what you are doing in the lives of women.
Sarah Price says
I would love to win this devotional because having a confident heart is something I’ve always struggled with. It’d be nice to have a buddy to do this with too! That’s why I’d love to win two copies! 🙂
Mimi says
We have lost our 30 year old daughter, our first born, to a man. We are not speaking at this time at her choice, she has chosen a man that continues to destroy her life, at her choice. It is a daily struggle & refinement in our home & with my mom as well. This is her first born grandchild & she is TRUELY hurting as we all are. Jesus is the center of our lives & He brings us daily PEACE in our lives. We would gift this book to our daughter & would ask you to pray over it for Gods continued will in her life & that she would find The Lord, His forgiveness, peace, love, faith, hope, grace, mercy & guidance back to His throne. Amen & Amen
Nichelle says
I would love to read this book. It’s funny on how God works sometimes. I woke up this morning feeling a certain type of a way. First let me give you a bit of back story. I have separated from husband of 4 years about six months ago. We married young and there was a lot of verbal abuse to the point that I wanted to kill myself. After trying to juggle salvation and marriage I decided for my sanity I needed to leave. I left the situation and took my daughter. We still communicate for my daughter, but my issue has always been confidence and self-worth. OK ( back to this morning) I woke up this morning with my daughter (who peed in the bed) I was just so upset and caught myself as I was lashing out at her for being a child. I really didn’t feel like a good mom or parent at the time. I apologized and we got ready for the day. It bothered me that I was upset with my daughter because I was upset with myself. The mind is a tricky instrument. As I embark on this journey of reconciliation, separation, and or maybe even divorce I would like to get more confident and mature with my relationship with Christ because sometimes I feel alone, tired, stupid etc. I hope in addition to the email from Proverbs 31 Ministries that if I were to win this book, it will help me have confidence in my heart that will be displayed on the outside for God’s Glory. If I don’t win, I still ask that you pray for me and my situation along with everyone on, involved, and that have read this blog.
Rachel Rickert says
You deserve better! My best friend lets people hurt her which started with her dad. I think she finally wants to leave her boyfriend who is verbally abusive. She is divorced and has 2 kids. Her whole family Israel up and she really has no one but me. Anyway I just wanted to say that you definitely deserve a healthy relationship! God bless you. 🙂 -Rachel Rickert

What a great giveaway! I am doing the OBS right now and it is fabulous!! Thank you for this book and sharing your heart.
angie crook says
A Confident Heart was a HUGE transformation tool God used in my life to begin crushing the overwhelming shadows of doubt & fear I was, and still struggle with. In the midst of panic attacks, and extreme darkness in my life, God worked through this book in mighty ways to bring healing & hope. I believe fear & doubt are daily thoughts Satan fills our minds with to try and destroy us. It’s a daily decision and effort to choose to believe in God’s truth and believe that through his Son Jesus Christ, and the Holy Spirit that lives within us WE ARE FREE! I would love to have a copy of the daily devotional for myself and a friend. What a hope to share 🙂
Tammy says
I love the book….am now taking my 2nd OBS with A Confident Heart. If I would win I would give the second copy to my daughter who is going through issues and trying to get her life back on track.

I’m going thru a transitional season in my life and ministry. This book not only will help me on this journey but will allow me to be a blessing to others.
Nichole Burns says
I would love to start this study with my mom. We are both on the long and difficult road of achieving healthy weight and healthy finances and healthy relationships. We are both people pleasers to an extent which makes our efforts a bit harder. We would both like to be more connected with God’s will for our lives instead of the world’s. We want to experience the peace of walking by his word and being good witnesses in all aspects of our lives.
Jacqueline says
I moved to a different state where I didn’t know anyone, let alone have friends or family.
It’s been very challenging and I still haven’t found “my groove” here. It is the most isolated
I have ever felt in my life. I try to stay close to God by reading email Daily Devotionals in the A.M., just like the one that lead me to read about this Devotional. They help keep me grounded, focused and faithful. Having this book will be supportive in an area where I have a challenging time believing I need support in. I am a strong woman who God has carried through so much. But when I read he sample devotional from the book, I FELT it – it spoke to me and I found it inspiring, something I at times struggle with. I would want the book to support me in staying INSPIRED so I can keep fulfilling God’s will in my life.

Karisa Madera says
I would love to win this book because I am constantly doubting myself. I know that God has called me to do great things, as he does everyone. But I always have a problem with saying, “I can’t do that!” instead of letting him do the work through me.
