Here’s a peek inside:
“I can’t do it all! I am not cut out to be a wife, a mom, a daughter, a speaker, a writer and all the other things God has called me to.” I had barely opened my eyes, yet I already felt beat up by feelings of inadequacy. My thoughts were against me, and my feelings were too. About that time, my radio alarm came on and my thoughts were interrupted by Twila Paris. With confident assurance, she sang truth to my soul, telling me it was not a time for fear, but a time for faith and determination. She challenged me not to lose my vision or be carried away by my emotions, but to hold on to all that I had hidden in my heart, and all I believed to be true. Then she reminded me of the most important truth of all: God is in control.1 As my thoughts aligned with God’s truth, my whole perspective changed. I went from feeling afraid to feeling determined, from feeling out of control to knowing God is in control.
Every day we have a choice – to either to let doubt beat us up or to let God’s truth build us up.
In the same way a radio has AM and FM frequencies, our thoughts do too. They are either AM (against me) or FM (for me) thoughts. Honestly, we are often our worst critics and have a lot of AM thoughts. And if our thoughts are against us, our feelings will be too. The next time you get feelings of inadequacy, stop and identify what you are thinking that is making you feel that way. Then compare your thoughts to God’s thoughts found in the Bible. Do they match? If not, find a promise in God’s Word to replace the lie that has filled your heart with doubt and start thinking about that promise. Even say it out loud and pray the words, asking God to make them true for you in that moment.
For instance, when doubt comes against you, telling you that you’re weak and all alone, focus on the truth that God is for you! You can be strong and courageous because the Lord your God is with you. He promises to never leave you nor forsake you. (Deuteronomy 31:6, NIV)
Then why not turn that truth into a prayer – claiming how much God is for you: God I’m so thankful You are for me. Because You are for me and with me, I can be strong and courageous in this situation. You promise You will never leave me nor forsake me. I’m choosing to think Your words that are for me instead of listening to the doubts that so easily come against me. You have full access to God’s power and His promises to live with a confident heart. But it won’t just happen because it’s possible. You have to take action! Just like I tuned into a Christian music station the night before, let’s be intentional about tuning our thoughts into God’s thoughts toward us, today and every day! Lord, help me remember today that You are with me to fight for me against my enemies of insecurity and feelings of inadequacy. In all these things, I am more than a conqueror through Him who loves me. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
When I say: Everything and everyone is against me. God says: I am for you! “What, then, shall [you] say in response to these things? If God is for [you], who can be against [you]?” Romans 8:31 (NIV)

So Excited for this! Love Proverbs 31 Ministries and you are just such an encouragement to me! Even if I don’t win something I still love this!!
I have finally found a church that I feel at home in. I woke up Sunday and so excited that it was Sunday so i can go to church and priase god for al he has done. I have been having nightmares for the past 10 years and went to a prayer groups and the night mares ended. I wake up every morning and thank God for a good night sleep without the nightmare. Its been a week. Its been a long time coming. But Also, through readings, people I get my answers to what God wants me to learn from a situation in my life. I love it. It usually takes 3 or 4 different resources for me to finally get it but I do. We have an AMAZING God there is nothing he can will not due… This devotional would be wonderful to complete my study. I have your book on Confident Woman. Thank you for all you do.
My whole life I have wrestled with my attacking thoughts of not being good enough or worthy enough. I have had great days of choosing to focus on God’s love for me: “My grace is sufficient.” But I’ve had many more days of choosing to let the Enemy drown out God’s voice. As I begin a new chapter in my life, moving into a job that requires every ounce of faith I can muster, I am in an all-out battle with myself about whether I can do this. I could use a book that reminds me that I am a confident, strong woman. I can do all things through Christ!
I’m so excited about the release of the devotional. I saw it online a few weeks ago and couldn’t wait for it to come out. I’m currently doing the online study with a friend of mine and would love to continue on this journey with her through using the devotional.
I have been sharing this book with my son. Also, I have been receiving in my email, the 7 day doubt diet. and sharing those with him as well. AWESOME!!! He is a young Christian man who is struggling with confidence with himself and our Lord. So far, through just the couple weeks of study, I can see HOPE coming back into his eyes!!!!! This devotion book would not only help him now, but later on in his life as a witness to others!!! God bless you ladies!!
I am super excited about reading this book and have so much butterflies to see what it brings after reading the book. My heart, mind, and spirit is open to receive.
Recently my friend lost her husband to cancer, I would like to share this book with her. She needs some encouragement and support from friends.
I would love to have this book! I think all girls/women, of every age, struggle with having confidence in today’s world, After I read it, I would pass it on to my daughter and daughter-in-law, to share the wisdom with them. Thanks!
I am loving the Proverbs 31 online bible study of the book A Confident Heart and would LOVE to get the devotional. I know a friend who would love it as well. Thank you Renee for writing such a wonderful book. I hope you know how much it has blessed so many people.
I have read some of Renee’s other works and love her! I have just the friend whom I would share the book with if I’m chosen.
I am doing the online bible study right now and it is wonderful. I completed a christian abuse recovery program about a year ago after 40 years of abusive relationships that began with my mother and then in relationships with men, and am doing better, but I struggle with depression and feeling not good enough. I want to have a confident heart and know God better. Some day I want to work in womens ministry but I know I have to be confident in who I am in Christ first.
I feel as though my life has been written in the first to chapters of A Confident Heart. It send shivers down my spine when I continue to read that all the terrible times I went through, both emotionally and physically are being brought back to life. I can’t believe someone else GETS IT, knows me, and is helping me come to grips with my locked down emotions. I will value this book for the rest of my life. I can only imagine how wonderful the Devotional would be. If I don’t win it, I’ll definitely be buying it. Thank you Renee for forcing me to bring out everything I’ve hidden for so many years. I love the quote on page 62 A Confident Heart is found in a woman who knows beyond the shadow of a doubt that she is loed no matter what! I hope to feel that love IN FULL, by the time I’m done with this book. God Bless You, and all the woman who are now being renewed by your works.
I know that myself like many women I know deal with the lies we tell ourselves each day about our self worth. It is hard to see ourselves the way He does. Self doubt has always plagued me.
I recently re-kindled a relationship with my x husband and moved from South Carolina to Virginia leaving my job friends and family within the first week I felt unsafe and was told to leave my new home. It was a long drive to my family in MD. and WV then finally back to SC but I am home and safe. Time to emerge myself in my faith with Gods word and heal while I look for a job and home
I would like to win your book so I can use it for a ladies’ class study.
My daughter and I were blessed by the confident heart study when we did it a few months back and it would be wonderful to keep those precepts in our hearts and minds with the new devotional!
I need a devotional desperately and this one even addresses personal struggles right now.
A Confident Heart…I am recently divorced. My ex-husband stated that he loves me, but why am I divorced? Why did he do the things he did? That wasn’t love and he didn’t know Jesus. In order to truly LOVE you must know Jesus because He is LOVE. Well on the same note I feel that I am confident. But not in the sense of God Confident. I want know confidence as God knows confidence; just as God is love. It’s that simple.
I have been struggling with doubt since my husband of 23 years walked out on our marriage. I have trouble moment to moment remembering how much God loves me and that he is for me….I think this giveaway would help me, a lot.
I lost my father to suicide, lost my baby at 20weeks pregnant and last year suffered from depression. I felt I lost my identity and all confidence. I have read the book and thank God I am strong and confident. I would value this devotional book to help other girls/ladies to grasp their confidence is in Christ. Xx
