Here’s a peek inside:
“I can’t do it all! I am not cut out to be a wife, a mom, a daughter, a speaker, a writer and all the other things God has called me to.” I had barely opened my eyes, yet I already felt beat up by feelings of inadequacy. My thoughts were against me, and my feelings were too. About that time, my radio alarm came on and my thoughts were interrupted by Twila Paris. With confident assurance, she sang truth to my soul, telling me it was not a time for fear, but a time for faith and determination. She challenged me not to lose my vision or be carried away by my emotions, but to hold on to all that I had hidden in my heart, and all I believed to be true. Then she reminded me of the most important truth of all: God is in control.1 As my thoughts aligned with God’s truth, my whole perspective changed. I went from feeling afraid to feeling determined, from feeling out of control to knowing God is in control.
Every day we have a choice – to either to let doubt beat us up or to let God’s truth build us up.
In the same way a radio has AM and FM frequencies, our thoughts do too. They are either AM (against me) or FM (for me) thoughts. Honestly, we are often our worst critics and have a lot of AM thoughts. And if our thoughts are against us, our feelings will be too. The next time you get feelings of inadequacy, stop and identify what you are thinking that is making you feel that way. Then compare your thoughts to God’s thoughts found in the Bible. Do they match? If not, find a promise in God’s Word to replace the lie that has filled your heart with doubt and start thinking about that promise. Even say it out loud and pray the words, asking God to make them true for you in that moment.
For instance, when doubt comes against you, telling you that you’re weak and all alone, focus on the truth that God is for you! You can be strong and courageous because the Lord your God is with you. He promises to never leave you nor forsake you. (Deuteronomy 31:6, NIV)
Then why not turn that truth into a prayer – claiming how much God is for you: God I’m so thankful You are for me. Because You are for me and with me, I can be strong and courageous in this situation. You promise You will never leave me nor forsake me. I’m choosing to think Your words that are for me instead of listening to the doubts that so easily come against me. You have full access to God’s power and His promises to live with a confident heart. But it won’t just happen because it’s possible. You have to take action! Just like I tuned into a Christian music station the night before, let’s be intentional about tuning our thoughts into God’s thoughts toward us, today and every day! Lord, help me remember today that You are with me to fight for me against my enemies of insecurity and feelings of inadequacy. In all these things, I am more than a conqueror through Him who loves me. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
When I say: Everything and everyone is against me. God says: I am for you! “What, then, shall [you] say in response to these things? If God is for [you], who can be against [you]?” Romans 8:31 (NIV)

love Miss Renee humor but her dedication to the LORD is beautiful!
Loving the thoughts of GOD-confidence instead of self-confidence!!
I need all the help I can get! I can’t wait to read this book!
This is to Danielle Humberstone who is having a hard time trusting God to take care of things. I was like that once and I still have my moments, but they are “little” moments compared to what it used to be like. Danielle, the Lord is magnificent – take baby steps if you have to, but talk to Him every day and tell Him what is on your heart then….Listen. He will guide you and also tell you what you need to be doing to get to where He wants you to be. Listening is the hardest part sometimes, but I’m praying it will be easy for you. Danielle, you trust that there is air to breathe each day – trust that the Lord is next to you each day – every moment when you start having doubt, talk to Him. Then let it go and let Him make your day better. There is one thing you have to do though – you have to get rid of all the toxic things in your life – people, places, things that can keep you from hearing the Lord. In other words, make God your best friend. Put Him first for a change. So many people will bring negativity into your life – you have to turn from it. It’s not easy, but you’ll be better in the long run. And the Lord will put the “right people” in your life to help you get closer to Him. It happens to me all the time!! And when it does, I thank Him and praise Him for putting that person in my life for whatever reason. So Danielle, I hope you will read this – I’m praying you will. I really want whatever is tearing your family up, to be resolved and for you and your family to have many, many happy days! May God bless you and guide you to where He wants you to be. Trust HIM – He will do what is best for YOU! I will keep you in my prayers. Lana

What a wonderful gift and blessing to give to a friend! I am consistently needing the reminder to have a confidant heart in this world!
We just moved to a new area. It would be fabulous to have a devotional share with a friend I met and give us a great way to change our lives and build our friendship.
I am studying abroad in Costa Rica for four months. While I’ve been here (only two months) I have been assaulted twice. Keeping up with Proverbs 31 devotionals has kept my faith strong and improved my relationship with God when I was constantly questioning my safety. I would love to continue my growth A Confident Heart!
I love this book. I bought it read and cried through then gave it to a friend who was struggling with self-esteem and alcoholism. I would love to have the devotional book.
God really touched my heart and my confidence in your book. Can’t wait to read your devotional. God has blessed you with the gift of writing to help others. Thank you for sharing.
I would love to win this for me and my friend. We both have read and done the Confident Heart Bible study online twice. It has been such a blessing and we have told many others of this book. But each of still struggle in this area and I believe this would be such a blessing to have such a daily reminder of who we are in Christ each morning. We pray together every weekday before work and this would be so great to add to our time. Blessings and thank you Renee for sharing your heart.
I would love to win this book .. I am recently going thru something ..maybe like “mid life crisis” .. Just feel that I’ve lost my purpose and who I’m supposed to be .. I’m so wrapped up in things around me that I don’t focus well on who I really am and what I enjoy .. Just going thru a confusing time ..
I would like to win because I just started mentoring a young woman. I think this would be a wonderful devo for us to go through together.
Blessings on you!
I would truly love to have this book because satan has been beating me down for YEARS with a failed first marriage due to drug abuse, leaving me to raise 2 children alone. I remarried only to discover that he was molesting my children and is now serving 20 years in prison, so I am a single mother of 4 beautiful girls… I know that I owe it to myself as well as all 4 of my girls to BE and to raise them to be the women He has made us and called us to be. I need and desire this daily encouragement and reminder that I am His and I DO have a purpose. I want to raise strong, christian girls and it has to start in me.
I am involved in youth ministry and would love this book for myself to grow and also to possibly use in a small group setting with my girls.
I am looking forward to beginning this devotional … I am so in need. Thank you.
I am finishing up Gideon Bible study this week. This devotional would be a good next step!
