A Little Love Goes a Long Way!

Welcome friends! If you are found your way here through my Encouragement for Today devotion, I’m so glad you stopped by. When she wrote The Husband Project, her goal was simple: create 21 simple, and inexpensive projects for women who wanted to bless their husband. {I love simple!}

In her book, The Husband Project, my oh-so-fun friend and author Kathi Lipp helps us do everything we can to love on our man –  from planning a guy-date to getting him a pint of his favorite Ben & Jerry’s. And I loved hearing how one of the most effective “Projects” was also the simplest: Write him some Post-it Note sized encouragement.

Post-It Note Challenge – Write Something Fun or Flirty for Your Man!

Are you ready to show your man a little love today? If so, here are your instructions:

  1. Grab a Post-it
  2. Write something, fun, flirty, or a little scandalous on it {we give you permission…}
  3. Put that Post-it somewhere where only HE will find it

It can be words of encouragement, something sweet or flirty and so on. Leave the post it where only he will find it. It can be in his briefcase, wallet, on his car steering wheel, underwear drawer, tool box, whatever he is going to open or use today. Below, Kathi has listed 21 ideas to get you started thinking. If you need to, use one from the list below. OR make up your own Post-It Love note – cause a little LOVE goes a long way.

  1. I’m praying for you today.
  2. Those jeans are really working for you…
  3. I love you.
  4. You are the best dad!
  5. You’re the kind of husband that makes the other wives jealous.
  6. You rock my world!
  7. Can’t wait to see you tonight – meet me upstairs…
  8. Thanks for working hard to provide for us. I appreciate all that you do.
  9. You make me feel beautiful.
  10. I thank God for you every day.
  11. How did I get so lucky, being married to a guy like you?
  12. You’re great!
  13. You make every day more fun.
  14. Have a great day.
  15. You’re hot!
  16. I feel so safe with you.
  17. Smart and good looking – I’ve got the whole package in you!
  18. You can be very distracting, you know…
  19. Our kids are so blessed to have a dad like you.
  20. That smile I wear – it is all because of you.
  21. God have blessed me in big ways by letting me be your wife.

Remember, you have more power than you know to change the direction of your man’s day.

    babe,i pray you have a great night at work and I am so thankful that God gave me you. I couldn’t ask for anything more in a man and a father.
    Whe you come home in the morning I will be waiting for you to good me close to you.
    I love you

  3. I feel sick to my stomach. My marriage is a joke. I could not say even one thing on the list of suggestions to my husband, because none of them are true. He is lazy and selfish, does next to nothing to make me feel loved, and all I can see right now are the negatives. He is an unsaved man which makes it all the worse, because I know I am supposed to be that godly wife who “wins her husband over without a word” (1 Peter 3:1-2). How am I supposed to do that when I can barely look at him. I was unsaved when we married, found the Lord and gave my life to Him after we had our first children (we have 5), and have been praying and waiting for the Lord to save my husband for over a decade. My husband has been involved with pornography, he has lied to me about that and other things all through our years together, he does only the bare minimun in everything in life, including being a father, employee, son, friend, and husband. I feel so alone and I hurt so bad I just don’t know what to do. Loving him like I know God wants me to seems impossible. Please pray for me.

    • Aww, Sandy, my heart aches for you.

      The book Love and Respect says that when he feels respect, he’ll be more likely to give love, and vice versa. Get the ball rolling and share with him something you do respect about him, even if it requires lots of prayer to think of what that is. And then pray for him to respond positively to the encouragement. God might start to move in him and in your marriage if you take that first step. I’ll most definitely be praying for you and your marriage.

  8. It wasn’r on a post it but I DID write this to him on Valentine’s day: Happy Valentine’s Day Baby…no need to get me any of those candy hearts…you already gave me yours. I don’t need any mushy cards or poems either…You tell me you love me every single day at least once. Chocolate is unnecessary also….your kisses are already so sweet. Forget about the plush animals too, nothing compares to your soft touch. Today, just know how much I always have, and always will love you.

  11. I loved your suggestions for things to say to my husband! I was reading your blog while we were driving to work this morning. I thought I’d try one of the suggestions. I put my hand on his knee (he was driving) and I looked straight at him and said “Those jeans are really working for you!” (with a wink in my eye) and you should have seen the look on his face! I couldn’t help but laugh! I think it really made his moment and day! Thanks for the suggestion! What great ideas!

  23. I have been leaving notes for my husband since we were married almost 10 years ago. Some were ( and still are) TMI =) but most are very simple. “I love you” “You are the best” “Thanks for being a great husband and dad”. I usually leave them on his computer in the office. With our winderful technology, sending texts work great too.

  25. I wrote: XOXO – I Love You! …from me. “Happy Valentine’s Day…When you get home, can you please tell me what the ‘Valentine’s Day’ thing is that people keep talking about?” from our 6 week old son.

    I really needed your devotion. I “quit” by text just a few days ago. Motherhood has turned my life upside down. I am struggling to figure out how to take care of someone I don’t understand while starting back to work and feeling like I have lost myself and my comfortable life with my husband.

  27. I wrote one reason that I love him on each card in a deck and said “52 Reasons I love You.” It was fun to write out so many special things about him and he loved it! One of the things I wrote was, “How handsome you! Oh how, charming!” Song of Songs 1:15
