About Renee

Renee.CasualPhoto_CroppedHi there. I’m so glad you’re here! My name is Renee. I’m a Word-lover, heart-encourager, story-teller, people-connector and grace-needer. I can also be a bit of a mess and have been known to take my dogs medicine (accidentally) and call the fire department more than once.

My favorite place to be is with my people, hiking in the mountains or watching them build sandcastles while I read a good book on the beach. I’ve been married to the most patient man on earth, for twenty-three years and I’m the mama of three: Joshua (21), Andrew (19), and our sweet princess, Aster (8), who our family adopted from Ethiopia in 2009, at the age of 10 months.

My passion is to help women discover the power of their stories, the uniqueness of their gifts, the beauty of their experiences and the wonder of the passions God placed in them  by equipping them with courage and confidence to make a difference right where they are, with what they already have!

I’ve had the incredible honor of doing Familythat for over twenty years in ministry leadership roles through the local church and through Proverbs 31 Ministries from 1995-2016 as an executive director and radio co-host of Everyday Life with Lysa & Renee that aired on over 1100 stations across the world.

In 2011, my first book, A Confident Heart, released the same month my father passed away and our daughter was diagnosed with significant special needs. That year changed my life as I learned how to do less and trust Jesus more – with the dreams and assignments He’d given me. My ministry grew more during that season than any other as I watched the Holy Spirit do what only He could do: immeasurably more than I could think of or imagine!

I watched God meet an epidemic need in the hearts of women who struggle with self-doubt and insecurity through my story of brokenness and the power of His grace and truth, while at the same time turning A Confident Heart into a national best-seller.

Has God’s given YOU a dream or an assignment that looks impossible? I understand. Do you ever doubt you have what it takes to fulfill His calling on your life? I have. And sometimes still do. But now I know what to do when it happens and how to get my heart back to the truth.

And that’s why I’m glad you’re here. I’d love to encourage your heart along the way and embrace the beautiful assignments, stories and callings God has for us. I hope you’ll sign up for me email updates so we can stay in touch and learn {together} how to rely on God’s power in us, and His presence with us, to fulfill His purposes for us — even when life feels impossible around us!

xoxo ~Renee

I believe in..

  • One God in three persons — Father, Son and Holy Spirit
  • Jesus Christ’s deity, virgin birth, sinless humanity, substitutionary death, atoning blood, bodily resurrection and ascension to heaven
  • The entire Bible is God’s infallible revelation to man
  • Salvation by grace alone, through faith alone, in Jesus Christ alone
  • The resurrection of the body: eternal glory for believers in heaven and everlasting punishment for unbelievers in hell
  • The one true church, the body of Christ, consisting of all believers
  • Obedience to our Lord’s command to lead people of all nations to faith in Christ and to grow in Christ-likeness
  • Christ’s personal return to establish His Kingdom on earth
  • The Holy Spirit indwells and empowers believers and is given as a seal and a pledge of our inheritance in Christ Jesus

I recently contacted Proverbs 31 Ministries regarding a list of bible verses I received when I signed up for their e-mails approximately 3-years ago. The list was 31 bible verses that you could add someone’s name to and give as a gift. Jeanne Spencer responded by stating that she recalls you oversaw this promotion and recommended that I contact you. Jeanne felt that you would be certain to respond and forward the requested listing.

I can be contacted at ccarlson8@wi.rr.com or by calling 262-349-5948. I look forward to hearing from you.

    Have a blessed day.

  2. Hello Renee! About 5 years ago I did the “A Confident Heart” study thru Proverbs 31 Ministries and it was such a wonderful experience. I can truly say it changed me and started me on the road to a closer relationship with God. I “met” some wonderful Godly women via the OBS that I still consider dear friends to this day.

I was wondering if you were going to be doing another on-line study for the book. I wouldn’t mind a refresher……I’m sure other women feel the same. Thank you for your time and God Bless! <3

  3. I have just started the book A Confident Heart and I think it is going to be the very thing that I need to get me “LIVING” again.
I tried to subscribe to the 7 day doubt diet to my email but didn’t see a place to click subscribe.

Renee, so sorry to hear about your car being stolen. I know that God can and will use it for good. Maybe the person/people that were supposed to hear your testimony at Southaven weren’t there Friday night, or perhaps the policeman that took the report was supposed to meet y’all, or possibly even the thief who took it will one day hear what he did was meant for evil but God brought a blessing out of it and used it for His glory. I hope you get to find out this side of heaven. If not, God knows and when you sit down at His table, one day, He will remind you of this crazy weekend and say,” Renee, my sweet baby girl, let me just show you how I used this mess to draw these people closer to me. And look sweetheart, even you were drawn closer to Me by leaning into Me during this time.” What a loving and gracious God we serve! It’s all about relationship. Thank you for coming to speak in spite of all the excitement going on at your house. You will be blessed by simply being obedient. Many blessings. Love in Christ, Emma Evans

I bought a day planner and a quote from you was in it. I loved the quote but what caught my attention was your last name. My maiden name is Swope. I know that it’s hopes are more common out east but here in Idaho they’re not very common. So I was tickled to see someone with the same last name. I know that sounds silly but it was fun to potentially see a connection. A link to ancestry.
