  1. This is exactly what I needed today. Dont have much confidence in myself as I found out Jan 1st that my husband of 25 yrs has been having an affair for 2 yrs. This is so devestating. Some days it just takes so much energy to just get out of bed. We are going to counseling and reading a devotional together. Things are progressing however the pain of the deceit and lies is so very painful. Clinging to God is the only thing I have

    • Lynn,

Praying for you and for your husband. So thankful that you are clinging to God. Praying for you as your work through the forgiveness.

      Blessings and prayers,

    • Lynn, I understand the pain and betrayal you feel. I have been fighting this same battle. Only a few weeks ago was I so tired of the struggle that I cried out to God for relief and poured out my heart to him. He came and met me in that place and told me how special and precious I am to him. I have such a heart of peace now it’s unbelievable. As my husband and I are working through it, I am setting healthier boundaries for myself…ones that show myself that I am worthy, i deserve to be treated better and I will no longer be second best to anyone. My husband has been knocked from his pedestal and God now firmly sits there.

    • Dear Lynn,

I feel so much for you. My husband threatened to leave me 4x 7 yrs. ago because our marriage was falling apart. We got counselling, read every book we could on marriage, talked ’til we were exhausted for 2 years, worked very hard on our issues, leaned heavy on God and ….. today, we are a totally different couple. We love each other and our marriage is safe and strong. We will always have to work on our issues and on our marriage, but it is so worth it. I will pray for you too. For all of us. God is in the business of saving, healing and remaking marriages. Hang in there. You will be rewarded!

      In His Name,

      • Agree completly, visited the building at opening day, the most interesting bit of the gallery project (being located in a storage building) was completly obliterated. It's so institutional, even the security people wear black suits… very disappointing in regards with the initial project presentation that seemed promising. And yes, the &qho;twuite" gallery concept seems so passé, inovation is needed please!

    • So sorry for your devastation. Please read ToWalk or Stay by my friend Lara Willams.

  16. Thank-you so very much! I have the book and participated in the Online Bible study. Your words and encouragement are truly a blessed surprise. I have had some serious decisions to make the past few days and coming up, so it is a good reminder to be strong and rely on the voice of God, for he knows my heart and not rely on the feelings of other people.

  27. Thanks for this (although I missed it – in the middle of signing up, got distracted by one of the family and forgot to come back! So goes life of a wife and mom 😉 I am learning: count it all joy.) Reading some of the comments is heartbreaking for where some are. Knowing we ALL are going through battles (ours is trying to figure out 14 yob with stony heart issues), we really need to hold each other up in prayer.

  28. Shannon Smith says:

I’m soo sad! I was gone yesterday & didn’t have an opportunity to check my email until today & of course, you sweetly gave away the ebook of the devotional to your book & like it would happen, I’m reading this book right now. Hopefully, you will do this again & I won’t be a day late & a dollar short. Thank you for using your talent to help women such as myself!

  29. Dear Renee,

Am I understqnding correctly that the free book give away has been extended though Sunday?!

I am writing because I have been in ministry with my husband since October, 1984. We met in seminary in 1981, were married in May of 1982 and took our first church appointment in June of 1983. I had a teaching degree and had taught a year prior to attending seminary. When my husband was called by the church before I had completed my seminary degree, we decided that if we needed a second income I could always look for a teaching job. I went to work during our second church appointment and every time we moved to a new location the Lord always provided a teaching job for me. We had a daughter in 1987 and a son in 1991. In 1993, my husband’s mother was killed in a car accident. Not long after that, my husband began to have trouble sleeping and later to suffer from depression. His father had been severely injured in the car accident and came to live in a home on some property that we were buying for retirement. Around the time his father passed away, my father developed Alzheimer’s. I moved from the location of the church we were serving to our home where his father had been living because my sister and I had moved our father close to this home where we could look after him. A few months after we moved my father, my sister found that she had breast cancer, She was 55, the same age that my mother was when she was diagnosed. She died at the age of 61 when I was in college. I was in menopause and was having hot flashes that caused extreme anxiety attacks. I also developed insomnia and struggled to go to work each day. After my sister’s mastectomy, my father passed away. When my daughter who had graduated from college and was working near her school came to the funeral she was skin and bones. Everyone at the funeral was very concerned. I talked with her afterwards and was able to get her to admit that she had an eating disorder. I also realized that my marriage was in trouble. My husband was struggling with his identity after retirement. I found myself in a deep depression. I would wake in the middle of the night crying out for God to help me, but I felt that he wasn’t there or wasn’t answering my prayers. I lost my confidence in my ability to be a wife, a mother or teacher. I had to take a medical leave of absence from work. I didn’t know if I would ever be able to go back and I was only 5 years away from retirement. I can tell you that I sought spiritual counseling and was able to find my way back to who I am in Christ. I am better because I ask Christ every day to Live In Me. I know that this is the only way to live. I have returned to work. My husband is still struggling with his identity as a retired minister. He has experienced rejection, pain and hurt in the ministry and is still struggling with his own identity in Christ. I am still working on my marriage and I am trying to help my daughter. I want her to find who she is in order to recover from her eating disorder. So I would love to have this book for myself just to have another source of confirmation of what my God can do and also for my daughter to have a copy to learn more about what I have been sharing with her through my own experience. I thank God for you and your ministry. May you and your ministry continue to be blessed. I’m also thankful for the Proverbs 31 Ministry. I receive it through email.

  30. I missed it Valentines Day. 🙁
