A Little Love Goes a Long Way!

Welcome friends! If you are found your way here through my Encouragement for Today devotion, I’m so glad you stopped by. I’ve got two things for you today. First,  the short and fun post below along with a BOOK give-away. Also I’ve got a link that will take you to the rest of the story of what God did that day I wrote about in my devotions – and how He gave me new direction and purpose as a mom -along with a chance to win my “Purpose-Driven Mom Gift Pack.” {The link is at the end of this post.}

“A simple word can renew hope.”
Lois Mayday Rabey

When she wrote The Husband Project, her goal was simple: create 21 simple, and inexpensive projects for women who wanted to bless their husband. {I love simple!}

In her book, The Husband Project, my oh-so-fun friend and author Kathi Lipp helps us do everything we can to love on our man –  from planning a guy-date to getting him a pint of his favorite Ben & Jerry’s. And I loved hearing how one of the most effective “Projects” was also the simplest: Write him some Post-it Note sized encouragement.

Post-It Note Challenge – Write Something Fun or Flirty for Your Man!

Are you ready to show your man a little love today? If so, here are your instructions:

  1. Grab a Post-it
  2. Write something, fun, flirty, or a little scandalous on it {we give you permission…}
  3. Put that Post-it somewhere where only HE will find it

It can be words of encouragement, something sweet or flirty and so on. Leave the post it where only he will find it. It can be in his briefcase, wallet, on his car steering wheel, underwear drawer, tool box, whatever he is going to open or use today. Below, Kathi has listed 21 ideas to get you started thinking. If you need to, use one from the list below. OR make up your own Post-It Love note – cause a little LOVE goes a long way.

21 Post-It-Sized Encouragements

  1. I’m praying for you today.
  2. Those jeans are really working for you…

  41. My best friend just told me about this book yesterday – the fact that you’re giving it away must be God’s influence saying that I need to read this book!

Here’s my note (sent via email):
Thank you for getting (daughter) up and going this morning. I really appreciate even the smallest things, and need to tell you that more often. I love you!

  42. Brianna Thomas says:

I thank God for you every day!

  43. This is very similar to something my husband and I do. We have a picture frame that says, “I love you because…” that we leave little notes on with a dry erase marker. My last note said, ” I thank God for you every day.”

  44. Vanessa Wynn says:

I’ve never read your book, but my husband and I have done this for a long time. We would find them and stick them to the door facing around our bathroom door to read every day, until the door frame got filled up and then we put them all over the walls. So, our bathroom is a private love letter between the two of us, plaster in a multi-colored wallpaper of post-it notes!

  58. TMI… !

  59. I really like suggestion # 8 – really appreciate that my husband is a hard-worker. I’m sure my husband would really appreciate some “TMI” notes!

  60. Baby, you’re the GREATEST!

  61. I didn’t write any today. But, I am going to cut out some heart shapes tonight, write notes on them and hang them in our medicine cabinet, on his desk, and other places he’ll find them after I go to work tomorrow. Some of the things I will write are “I appreciate you more than you’ll ever know”, and “Love you lot’s, love you always.” I know I need to do this more than just on Valentine’s Day. My husband isn’t walking with the Lord right now and God has been nudging me about showing him more love, respect, and encouragement so maybe the book will help me with that.

  62. Debbie Graham says:

My Post-It to my husband reads: “You’re amazing! Vision Fundraising is gonna be huge because YOU will make it so. I admire your determination and love you so much. <3 Me

  68. I am ready to quit! I am in the process of a divorce. I have four young children at home and work fulltime as a teacher. I am overwelmed and tired of taking care of everything and everybody. I just want to sit down and cry.

    • Oh Lana, Im so sorry. I wish I could come over and take your kids to the park and give you some time to rest. I wish I could sit across the table and tell you just how much your life matters – to your family and to your students – but most of all to Jesus. I wish we could have coffee and I could look into those weary eyes and just listen and let you vent. He’s by your side. He’s bending down and looking up into your eyes as you rest your head in your hands and wonder if anyone notices all that you are doing. He sees. He notices. He cares. Oh how he cares. Im praying for you sweet friend. Lifting your load and your weary heart to Him tonight.

“You give me your shield of victory, and your right hand sustains me; you stoop down to make me great.” Psalm 18:35 (NIV 1984)

  69. Thanks for being a great husband and dad

  76. I couldn’t resist the ultimate Valentines Day quote from the Jerry McGuire move: “You complete me.”. Thanks for the wonderful idea.

  77. My prayer has been answered and I THANK you so much. My husband Keith has been my Superman for the past 29 years of marriage. For the last 2 years he has been down after he HURT his back. It’s been really hard watching my once STRONG husband grow weaker and weaker. I have been praying along with my church family for his healing. I have also been wondering what I could do SPECIAL for him for Valentine Day. Well, now I know, a pesonal LOVE NOTE from me to him is PERFECT and I know it will make him SMILE as well as help him to walk a little talker having this come from me. Thank you, thank you, thank you, and I am going to purchase the book to continue to find ways to love on my husband.

  78. I’m so happy you’re home! I’ve really missed you this week!

  79. Carol Hamilton says:

I attached a P ost it note to a Snickers bar and placed it in his lunch box. I genuinely wrote how he is like a Snickers bar…the wrapper says It ALWAYS SATISFIES!!!!!! : )

  80. Mendy Beecham says:

My post-it note said: Thank you for working so hard to provide for us! You take such good care of your family. By the way, you wear those jeans so well. I think you are so hot!!!

  81. Stacey Keller says:

I just sent a text to my husband telling him thank you for working so hard to provide for our family and how much I appreciate how much he does. He immediately called me to thank me for the text and asked what brought it on. Currently we live in Georgia with two of my children – back in September my husband was transferred to Texas with his job. We made the decision at the time for the kids and I to stay here in Georgia until my daughter graduates high school. She is currently a junior. This has by far been the toughest thing we have done – I miss you so very much. So, thank you for reminding me to send him words of encouragement, especially during our current situation.

    • Oh Stacey, I love what you wrote and how he noticed. Wonder how God might use your words if you sent him a text every day to tell him how much you love and appreciate him. Im going to try to do that too. Its so easy and yet it’s so hard to remember sometimes – but what a difference your note made in his heart today. Thank you for sharing his response 🙂

  82. Those jeans are working for you hot stuff!

  83. Let’s put the kids to bed early tonight! 😉

  84. I’m thankful I still get butterflies like when we first started dating when we go out on date nights.

  85. I made a cut out chain of hearts and wrote a message on each heart. “God gave me you”. “Thank you for working hard to provide for us”. “Our children are blessed to have a Dad like you!”. “I am grateful for the extra time youve spent with the kids lately due to my work schedule and other events”. “I love you”.
I feel like we haven’t been investing much in each other lately. I almost feel silly doing it because, sadly, he’ll probably wonder if I’m sick because its been that long since I’ve surprised him with anything fun! However, I think he will feel special when he finds it and hopefully it is a first little step towards the both of us making more effort to show our love for each other. Thank you for the nudge to love my husband!

  86. Adrienne Maples says:

“We are so blessed to have you! Thank you for being the best hubby and the sweetest, most fun Daddy!”

  87. Thanks for sharing! My husband has been at work since 7 so I decided to text him. Here’s my message:

“Thank you for working hard to provide for our family, Honey. You are not just a pretty face! 🙂 Love you!”

I thank the LORD for blessing me with such a wonderful godly husband. Been married for almost six years, three precious children. Couldn’t ask for more.

  88. “Ur so cool ur hot” 😉

  89. You’re the kind of husband that makes the other wives jealous.

  91. I fall more in love with you everyday.

  92. You’re the best thing that happenned to me……I am really blessed and lucky for choosing me. Thank you Lord for this man I truly love and cherish until my last breadth….

  93. As we celebrate 20 years – you bless me more and more all the time. You work harder than anyone I know, taking the punches all day but coming home with a smile. Thank you for making our foundation rock solid and for being an awesome dad. So honored that you are “my man”.

Great idea – so hard to make it through life without giving one another constant “boosts”, it’s easy to get caught up in the negative and forget the example our Loving Father laid out for us 🙂

  94. This quote from Ann Voskamp’s blog made me think of you today and rejoice that you’re my forever Valentine: “The love of a quiet man can make your soul sing loud — loud!”

  95. Thank you for providing for us every day, working hard and loving us.

  96. Molly Hulse says:

You are hot and smart and you are mine! Thank you for picking me!

That smile I wear – it’s all because of you!

Hi Everyone.. Happy Valenties Day & God Bless You… To my Best Friend aka Husband… I wrote..
Thank You for your Love & for you being you. I Love you.
    Have an AMAZING Day everyone

  124. I wrote one reason that I love him on each card in a deck and said “52 Reasons I love You.” It was fun to write out so many special things about him and he loved it! One of the things I wrote was, “How handsome you! Oh how, charming!” Song of Songs 1:15

  125. Your my hero!

  126. I wrote: XOXO – I Love You! …from me. “Happy Valentine’s Day…When you get home, can you please tell me what the ‘Valentine’s Day’ thing is that people keep talking about?” from our 6 week old son.

I really needed your devotion. I “quit” by text just a few days ago. Motherhood has turned my life upside down. I am struggling to figure out how to take care of someone I don’t understand while starting back to work and feeling like I have lost myself and my comfortable life with my husband.

  127. Dear Valentine, “I love you when things are perfect, I love you when things are difficult.”

  128. I have been leaving notes for my husband since we were married almost 10 years ago. Some were ( and still are) TMI =) but most are very simple. “I love you” “You are the best” “Thanks for being a great husband and dad”. I usually leave them on his computer in the office. With our winderful technology, sending texts work great too.

  129. Beth Goodling says:

Thank you for being a wonderful provider and playing with our kids.

  130. Christy Pinney says:

I wrote ” Thanks for helping me with my game last night, you are soo smart! Love you! C ” (I was playing a word game on my phone and kept getting stuck) and another day I wrote ” I appreciate all the hard work you do! I love you!”

After this past year of many crisises with my physical health and the toll that steroids have taken on my body you made me feel so beautiful yesterday. I love you.

  135.

  136. I love you more everyday!

  137. Thank you for the little things you do to show you love me!

  138. I will have to do this in the morning but I think I am going to write” Thank you for all you do, it is so appreciated”

  139. I loved your suggestions for things to say to my husband! I was reading your blog while we were driving to work this morning. I thought I’d try one of the suggestions. I put my hand on his knee (he was driving) and I looked straight at him and said “Those jeans are really working for you!” (with a wink in my eye) and you should have seen the look on his face! I couldn’t help but laugh! I think it really made his moment and day! Thanks for the suggestion! What great ideas!

  140. When things are good…I love you, when I am having a bad day….I love you. You are a blessing to me and our family!

  141. You make me Happy Happy Happy! 😉

  142. It wasn’r on a post it but I DID write this to him on Valentine’s day: Happy Valentine’s Day Baby…no need to get me any of those candy hearts…you already gave me yours. I don’t need any mushy cards or poems either…You tell me you love me every single day at least once. Chocolate is unnecessary also….your kisses are already so sweet. Forget about the plush animals too, nothing compares to your soft touch. Today, just know how much I always have, and always will love you.

  143. Jalisa Ray says:

I prayed for God to send me an angel and He sent me you! I love you!

  144. “U r great, so glad that you r my mate”!

  145. Brenda Ellingsburg says:

You are amazing! Thank you for being a Godly husband! <3

  146. I am blessed to have u!

  147. I feel sick to my stomach. My marriage is a joke. I could not say even one thing on the list of suggestions to my husband, because none of them are true. He is lazy and selfish, does next to nothing to make me feel loved, and all I can see right now are the negatives. He is an unsaved man which makes it all the worse, because I know I am supposed to be that godly wife who “wins her husband over without a word” (1 Peter 3:1-2). How am I supposed to do that when I can barely look at him. I was unsaved when we married, found the Lord and gave my life to Him after we had our first children (we have 5), and have been praying and waiting for the Lord to save my husband for over a decade. My husband has been involved with pornography, he has lied to me about that and other things all through our years together, he does only the bare minimun in everything in life, including being a father, employee, son, friend, and husband. I feel so alone and I hurt so bad I just don’t know what to do. Loving him like I know God wants me to seems impossible. Please pray for me.

    • Aww, Sandy, my heart aches for you.

The book Love and Respect says that when he feels respect, he’ll be more likely to give love, and vice versa. Get the ball rolling and share with him something you do respect about him, even if it requires lots of prayer to think of what that is. And then pray for him to respond positively to the encouragement. God might start to move in him and in your marriage if you take that first step. I’ll most definitely be praying for you and your marriage.

  148. here is what I wrote to my hubby:
babe,i pray you have a great night at work and I am so thankful that God gave me you. I couldn’t ask for anything more in a man and a father.
Whe you come home in the morning I will be waiting for you to good me close to you.
    I love you

  149. You make my heart smile.

  150. Kathy Goehring says:

I have delighted in being with you every day of our 29 years and if God wills, we will have many more!

  151. I’ a 31 yesr old moter of 3 beautiful gils. 14, 10 &9. I have currently been at an all time low. I had to witness my dad trying to kill someone in road rage then force him to stop whhile my daugters were in the car watching everything transpire. Had to force him to stop so i could pull the man out of the car while my dad acted as if nothing ever happened. I lost 5 family members this and tried to commit suicide. And then lost my job, cinsidering i’m the only bread winner since i’m single. My Lord I just pray that you can give / instill into me all of the inspiration, encouragement and wisdom i need be the strong encouragement that i need to continue to fight this battle her on this earth. I am getting weaker by the day and need all of the help i can accuire from your word and the inspiration of the different Titus 2 women that U Have placed before me to teach and guide my through these horrific times. I need you desperatly my Lord to shower Your blessing upon me. So that i may once again feel desireable in your eyes Lord. I beg of your mercy. In Jesus’ most Holy and Preciuos name i pray for restoration to be that strong woman of Proverbs 31. I also pray that you will find it in your heart to allow me to get this book to bring my soul back to life so i can focus ok n God and his word again. Instead of falling victim to the devils schemes of trying to lie, still and destroy me. Thank you, Natasha C. Sabine
