When You Need Prayer But Feel Hesitant to Ask { & a prayer journal giveaway}

Today, I’m talking with my friend Kathi Lipp on her podcast about the topic of prayer and I wanted to invite you to join us! As one of my regular readers, you may notice today’s post is familiar – half of it was shared here in April. Today I’m sharing the whole thing, in case you didn’t get to read it last month, and for new friends visiting from Kathi’s podcast. Welcome if you’re visiting from Kathi’s page. I’m so glad you’re here!

I would love to pray for you today, and have us all pray for each other. I’m also giving away my new favorite prayer journal. Keep reading to find out more.

Asking for prayer

It was supposed to be a prayer request, but my email started out more like an apology. I needed friends to pray, yet I was hesitant to ask. I didn’t want my burdens to burden them.

They already had so many problems of their own: illnesses, a job loss, death of a loved one,  relationship strains, overwhelming stress, and overloaded schedules.

I questioned whether my need rated high enough on the urgency “Richter scale.”

Was it really bad enough to ask for prayer, or should I wait to see how things turned out?

The first sentence in my email went something like this: “I hate to add to your list of burdens, but I need prayer for JJ.”

A few years ago, my husband had a routine check-up and blood test results that caused his doctor to be concerned about his liver, which led to a biopsy that week. We didn’t know whether it would be anything serious in the end. I just knew I didn’t want to walk through it alone in fear, denial, or my own strength.

Within fifteen minutes of me hitting “send,” friends who were on their computers started telling me they were praying. And not only did they pray, they thanked me for sharing what was going on and for letting them be there for me.

One friend shared how someone she knew had been through a similar situation. Another asked questions and made some great suggestions. Then another cracked a funny joke that made me laugh, which I really needed to do!

The night before we went to the hospital, my friend Amy sent an email saying, “I’ve been lifting prayers heavenward for your family since your last email. Know that you’ll be in my thoughts and prayers tomorrow. Let us know as soon as you hear results. We’re all in this with you, friend.”

As I read her last sentence, I could almost feel the softness of her hands gently squeeze my shoulders and hear her saying, “We’re all in this with you, friend.”

And then it hit me, what if I had not shared our need?

I would’ve missed the comfort of having friends “with me” and peace that came through the power of their prayers.

They would’ve missed out on a chance to be the “body of Christ” by guarding our hearts and minds with God’s promises and the power of prayer. And they would have missed being part of what God was doing, the joy that came when medical tests went well, and the recovery that was quick. And as we waited that week for biopsy results that ended up coming back normal, their prayers and God’s peace were constant companions.

Are you are carrying a burden today? Don’t listen to doubts that make you question the validity of your need. Even if, like me, you hate to impose on others.

Asking for prayer isn’t about putting burdens on our friends.
It’s about letting them walk by our side down a path we were
never intended to walk alone.

Lord, thank You for never seeing my prayers as a burden. Help me remember the power and purpose of prayer in my life and in my friendships.

Let’s walk together and carry each other’s burdens this week by sharing a prayer request and praying for each other in the comments by clicking “Share Your Thoughts.” I’ll be praying for each of you! And would love if you could leave a short prayer for the person who shares their need in the comment above yours!!!

My husband also has liver issues and we have walked through a lot of hard places over the last few years. He is doing good so far but there are times his liver disease rears its ugly head. I guess I never thought of asking others for prayer. I would pray, he would pray, and his mom would pray but that’s the extend of our requests. Thanks for a new perspective ?

    • windy rodriguez says:

hi, just wanted to let you know that i’ve prayed for your husband

    • Praying for you and your husband as you walk through this hard place together. We love praying for you!! Thank you for sharing with us!!

      • Sabrina Fevens says:

Thanks, we appreciate it. Ironically, he got a call from his specialist today with a consultation appointment for an ERCP (liver scope). On top of the unknowns, missed work means no pay. We are looking at one day this month and a few next month. 🙁

  2. Thank you for sharing this. Learning to be vulnerable and let others back into my life has been challenging. But God is showing me to trust him.

    • It is a challenge Ellen, and I understand the vulnerability. Praying for a friend you can love through prayer and she can love you back as you take steps towards carrying each other in community through burdens and blessings you share!!

  3. windy rodriguez says:

i have prayed for your husband and would appreciate prayer too. i’ve had a urinary tract infection for 3 months and its not letting up. I’ve seen 3 doctors and am on my 4th round of meds. its hard to live life while continually feeling like you need to go to the bathroom. thank you to anyone who prays for me 🙂

    • Oh Windy, that’s got to be frustrating and painful. Praying for the right meds and for complete healing – for your body to respond and for your current doctor to know just what you need. In Jesus Name amen!!

  4. I feel like this! Thank you for helping me see it isn’t a burden.

    • So glad you’re here today Cheryl, and so encouraged that today’s post spoke to your heart. Praying for you to experience God’s power and presence today!

  5. My sister has stomach and pancreatic cancer. Please help me pray for her. She’s unable to work and has no husband nor children to help support her. I’m doing what I can, which unfortunately, isn’t much, but at least she has a place to stay during this trying time. Your prayers will be much appreciated.

    • Kim, I know she’s so grateful to have you. It may not seem like much but what you are doing through the power of your presence, your love, your prayers — it’s all a huge gift. You are being Jesus with skin on. Praying for her now and for you too!

  6. Barbie Wilson says:

Please pray God will show me where to say yes and where to say no (with out feeling so full of guilt). I have many things in my life that are time robbers and I tend to let these things take my time from being with the Lord away and then become frustrated. I need you to pray God will give me wisdom to know His will in my life. My husband and son need His salvation. <3 thank you <3

  7. I need prayer for my kids and I know it work thanks

  8. I often think of this same thing, no way would someone pray for me, I am not worth it, my troubles are small and everyone is so busy. I belong to a women group and just forwarded your message to our leader, wondering how many of the needed prayers do not get asked for? I hoping that she will share it with the group. We all could use some help, prayers and support. Why not ask those close to you, that could really impact both of your lives.

thank you for this message, I will be more willing to share a need now. bless you

    • Susan H. says:

Vicki, I pray that the women in your group will open their hearts to begin to pray even more for each of the other women in your group and through this process, a bond of friendship and love will develop and become stronger as it brings joy to each of your lives.

      • Cathy Erickson says:

Renee, I’m the “leader” of prayer warrior women called “Sonshine Sisters” that Vicki wrote about… and I most definitely will be sharing your story with them. We all need wake up calls and this is one! I have challenged them to start their own Prayer Garden, where they can pray in quiet each day spending time with God (sort of like the “War Room” movie). We will pray for your husband and you, knowing that each prayer is heard by Jesus! God bless.

  9. Windy, I have prayed for your health as well as for Sabrina’s husband and Kim’s sister. It is such a privilege to be part of holding each other up. I would appreciate your prayers as I was arrested last fall for something I didn’t do. My ex is very vindictive and made accusations that got someone’s attention. I know that I will be free but in the meantime I need prayer for physical and emotional strength, my kids need prayer for peace in their hearts and the voluminous legal fees have tapped everything that we have. Thank you so much.

  10. Patricia, I am praying for you and your kids.

  11. I am women’s ministry director and I am also a Public Safety Chaplain for our police and fire departments. It has been a full 3 days. 1. A police officer died, 2. a friend’s mom died and my sister is going through tests with the possibility of lymphoma. Pray for the police officers family and colleagues to seek the Lord, and for those who are Christ followers to demonstrate God’s grace, mercy and comfort to each other and to the officers family. The same would be great for my friend’s family whose faith-filled Mom is in the presence of Jesus. Also for my sister to deepen her trust and dependence on the Lord through this difficult journey of medical tests.

    • Stacie Martinsen says:

      Dear Pat,

I will lift you up towards God and his angels, asking them to bless and strengthen the Officer’s family, bless the family of your Mom’s friend, and strengthen your sister during her medical journey. Trust in Him; He will bring all of you through this very difficult time.

  12. Camille says:

I can’t begain to tell you how much I needed to hear this today. Your words are true blessing straight from God!
    Thank you and God Bless

  13. Patricia says:

Thanks you for your comments on prayer
I have felt the same about asking for prayer. We need each others support.

  14. Genia Horton says:

It seems like when it comes to asking for prayer, I feel the same as was mentioned in this article. I don’t want to burden others, or feel like my need is that important, but I’m totally missing it by that kind of thinking. We need each other in the body of Christ and esp. when life is becoming difficult and scarry. I count it a privilege to pray for others, but hesitant to ask for myself. I need to be more dependent on my Christian family to come along side of me. I have a strained relationship with a mother who betrayed me. I continue to seek forgiveness for her and ask God to please remove the hurt and heal the relationship. I know He is working, because I’ve made a commitment to contact her at least once a week just to honor her and hear her voice, in spite of not much change. God is changing me and I was on my knees this morning seeking the same requests from Him. He knows and hears.
I want to ask God in His grace and mercy to sustain this sister who has serious cancer to keep her pain free and to let this season in her life draw her to God for strength for the day, but esp. for His salvation and assurance of Heaven when He calls her home. Thank you that she has a sister who is able to provide a safe place for her. Use this time to draw them closer together in the bond of your love, Father. Amen

  15. Thank you Renee for sharing. I love your devotions. This one hit home as I am dealing with family issues with a sister that I am not sure how to handle. Its easy to not say anything because of what others might think. I needed this today. Praying good results for your husband and peace for your family. God Bless

  16. I need prayers for grandson, He has a mental problem. He doesn’t want to take his meds and gets angry. Was in dean’s office today. Could get out of school suspension if he doesn’t hang in there these last couple of days which could cause him to lose all his credits. It’s a no win cycle. He really gets frustrated and sees no reason to keep going which just makes things worse. Prayer is my only hope and can use all the prayer warriors we can get.

  17. Stacie Martinsen says:

My prayer request is for the removal of pain that a previous job caused me, my family, and my friends. I have not been able to put it past me and the anger I feel is blocking me in many areas of my life. Lord, please deliver me from this despair.

    In Jesus’ name, Amen.

  18. Heather P says:

There are times that I don’t feel like sharing all that is going on in my life. Other times, it is the first place I turn. Thank you for the reminders!!
I do not know about liver issues, but health is an issue for a lot of people.
Please pray for my interview in the AM and for my marriage. Thank you!!

    • Well I guess I don’t have to spend the weekend figuring this one out!

  19. Christine says:

Letting others pray for us is another way to glorify God. They get to see His miraculous work and rejoice with you when the prayer is answered. I’m making my way through Fervent by Priscilla Shirer. Great book.
I also need prayers for my son, David, who is also a pastor. He has been suffering with crippling fatigue and other symptoms. He gets the blood tests back today. I’m relying heavily on God because I have no faith in his doctors. (David plans on switching doctors) God gets us through it and is always faithful. Thanks.

  20. Janet J. says:

PRAYING FOR ALL WHO SUBSCRIBE TO THIS SITE AND THE AUTHOR OF THIS SITE. GOD BLESS EACH ONE WHO ENTERS. GOD IS ABLE!!!

  21. This post really hits home with me. I have a hard time asking others to pray for me because I don’t want to burden them. Thanks for reminding me that sometimes it is a blessing to be asked to pray for someone.

  22. Karen C says:

Please pray for me that I will stay strong in Christ in order to be a blessing to others. I want others to have hope when they come in contact with me.

  23. I need prayer for my 92 yo Dad going into assisted living. He’s alone now & doesn’t do change well. I need prayer for salvation & Bible training of my grandchildren & their Dad. My daughter is having her fourth child at almost 40; she is exhausted most of the time. I am trying to start a business because I’ve been out of work for two years! We have spiritual, financial & stress issues. Please pray for us!

  24. @Karen…I am praying that you will feel & know the Love of God so deeply it will change you (as it is changing me!?) so that you will just naturally bring that love with you everywhere you go!

  25. I have sure felt this way many times. Thanks for sharing this. I would like to request prayer for my 18 yr. old daughter who is doing drugs and thinks its okay, Has a boyfriend who is not good for her and just walking down a rebellious road. SO hard to stand by and watch but I know I cannot control her. This is God’s battle and He is only one who can change her heart. Trusting God! He is able.

    • Dear Kim,

I to had an 18 yr old daughter who thought it was ok to do drugs. I prayed for a few years continuously for my sweet daughter and the Lord heard my pleas. He provided her with a year in prison which turned her life around. I am still so grateful that He is in control and not us because who has the mind of God and who can turn all the ugliness into something beautiful. I will be praying for you and your daughter and please know through this hard time there is always hope in our Lord.

  26. Christine Distelhorst says:

During the month of April I was sick and in the hospital twice. I had Pneumonia and then later massive fluid build up with had to be drained. They drained off a liter and a half of fluid. During that time, I had Prayer support from my wonderful friends! Prayer works and I will be Praying for you @Karen! I know what it is like to be Caregiver to our parents. I will Pray that your daughter’s pregnancy will be smooth.

  27. What a timely post! I am always happy to pray for others, but often don’t ask myself, I don’t know why! Please pray for my son Thomas, age 21, who has been diagnosed with Crohn’s disease. He’s on lots of meds trying to get into remission, but he’s felt bad for six months now and still isn’t feeling better. I worry that he will get discouraged, but he’s got a very good attitude about it. It’s hard being a 21 year old, just starting out into adult life, and having to deal with a painful disease. Thanks to all.

  28. Margaret says:

Praying for Thomas. Prayers for perseverance, relief from the pain, wisdom for the doctors and a speedy return to full health including all of the activities for a 21 year old.

Please pray for my family, as we found out this morning that my sister passed away. She has been in poor health for a while but it still is a shock. Pray for my sisters who will be traveling in for the funeral.

  29. Katrina says:

My Momma has heart surgery on Tuesday to try to repair a leaky heart valve and we are both getting pretty scared. We have been praying our hearts out. I hope that she makes it through safely and that it improves her quality of life.

  30. KATHLEEN BENNEFIELD says:

Learning (slowly) that the burdens are always lighter when someone else helps you carry them!! I pray that my friends will always feel comfortable coming to me to partner with them.

Father, I come to you on behalf of Magaret and her son Thomas. You are the Great Physician, Comforter, Sustainer and I ask that you bless them and lift them up during this time of need. I ask in the precious name of Jesus!

  31. Darlene says:

    Dear Abba Father,
I as for comfort for Margrets family and safe travels to the funeral of their sister that has passed.
In Your Son and My Lord ans Savior Jesus Christ Amen.

I ask for prayes for my prayer life and stay on track with Gods plan for me. It seems like I backtrack in my life to God and I just ask for help.
    Thank you and God Bless

  32. Margaret,
Praying for you and your family in the sudden loss of your sister. May you all find comfort and strength in the Lord during this sad time.

Please pray for me. I need to find a renewed sense of purpose. My husband is going through major changes in his work (possible retirement) and I have an autoimmune disease which makes life challenging.

  33. patricia underwood says:

I often have a hard time reaching out to others on behalf of myself or our family’s “sticky issues” (the ones that I’d rather no one even know about). Yet, I’ve learned the power of “me too” SO many times and have found that when I let my guard down enough to be vulnerable with my prayer requests and burdens, so many other friends start sharing theirs, as well. In addition, we can all learn and GROW from what we’ve all been through, which is part of why I think God lets us endure certain seasons~ to be a help to someone else. Even so, I still find myself holding back on sharing my requests at times, so this post was perfect timing for my heart! Thank you!!

  34. I just moved to a new community. I met a lovely Christian woman and had only seen her two times when I
needed to be covered in prayer. The Lord put it on my heart to call her and ask her to pray for my needs.
I did hesitate, but followed the spirits leading. She was very gracious and loving when i called her. She very
graciously took my requests to God… Know it will be the beginning of a wonderful ” new sister in Christ “relationship.

  35. Adonica Budd says:

I find it hard to request prayer from others, because of constant criticism or they don’t think it is a big enough concern to them. I am ready to walk away from a 27 year marriage because of many issues, but it isn’t important enough for others to pray about.

    • I will pray for you, Adonica, that He will bring you strength and comfort and guidance, and a new awareness of His presence in your life.

    • Also, that you will find a real-life friend who will pray for you and show you that you ARE important.

  36. Barbara says:

Thank you for this. I too find it hard to ask others to prat for me as I often do for them. @Susan, I pray with you that you find a renewed purpose and for your husband as he makes life changing decisions/transition in his career.
Please also pray for me as I lost my job March 31st and am trusting God as I seek employment. I’m trusting God that this one opportunity comes through. And if it doesn’t, I know he has something else for me. And that he continues to give me peace and all of my needs are met. Thanks.

  37. Colleen Hood says:

Fran, I also just moved to a new community. Since moving I have been diagnosed with lymphoma, had 4 infusion treatments, my husband lost his job (part of the reason we moved here), we’ve had to move in with our daughter and family, and my husband is now in a deep depression. Two wonderful women have befriended me and are praying for us plus meeting with me each week. It sounds like God is blessing both of us with new friendships during challenging times! I will also pray for you and your husband. We aren’t supposed to walk through life alone. Blessings to you!

  38. I am dealing with chronic pain that medication doesn’t touch. I have a cervical epidural tomorrow morning and am supposed to get a back brace any day now. Colleen, I will be praying for your medical situation and for your husband. Depression and job loss are tough things to deal with, speaking from experience. I will gladly lift you up in prayer.

  39. Charlotte says:

Margaret, I come along side of you and stand in agreement that you will find a renewed sense of purpose. Lord touch my sisters body so she can walk in the calling you have placed on her life. I lift her husband to you Father, we know that you can give him the peace of mind too deal with anything he may have to deal with. Father if retirement is your will let him trust you to provide the financial support he needs to care for his family.

I am asking for prayer to start spending daily quiet time in prayer and bible study. I have no friends to hold me accountable, I really have no friends. I lost my husband in 1999 and haven’t been in a relationship since than. The only place I go is church and home; please pray the Lord would send me the man of God that he has for me or some healthy relationships so I’m not alone. Thank you.

  40. Thank you for sharing:)
You hit the nail on the head. I often felt like I shouldn’t ask for prayer because I don’t like to bother people:)
    I needed this.

    Smiles!

  41. Susan G says:

I so agree we need a good friend (or friends!) to go to when we need prayer. I am strengthened, encouraged and comforted when my dear friend agrees to go to the Father for me, and with me. And I don’t know of anything more important that I can offer someone in need, than prayer.
    Thank you for this!

  42. Charlotte, I was also going to ask for prayer to help me begin my day with the Lord. I will be praying for you as I am struggling alongside you on this. And I pray that our glorious Lord would surround you in His love both by his Holy Spirit but also through the hands and feet of Christians, His body, in your area. That he would bring godly relationships into your life who can love and support you. And if it is his will that one of those relationships might be a godly man who will walk alongside you as you serve Him.

I am asking for prayers for self-discipline and a hunger and thirst for God. I have been struggling spiritually for a few years and have been trying to be more consistent with a quiet time in the mornings again, but just feel so dry. Also, my husband and I have a business that has been our livelihood for the past 12 years and due to changes in healthcare and restructuring we have lost almost all our clients. Please pray for work to come our way, and if it doesn’t that we will know where to go find work. I have basically been a SAHM for the last 30 years except the little time it took to take care of the books, etc. My last daughter will be a senior in high school next year. I would love to be able to make it until she goes to college, but I don’t know if that is what the Lord has in store. Also, please pray that my husband and I will grow closer through this and find ways to work together instead of attacking each other. Thank you!

  43. Thank you for this post, it is timely for me right now given that God has me on a journey right now. And it is hard to some times ask others to pray for me when I have asked them to pray for mom. Not that I can’t ask for more than one thing for them to pray about for me. I have struggled with pray myself for so many years thinking that GOD would answer someone else’s prayers before mine. I want to learn to do better with my prayer life. Thank you for post.

  44. JOYCE K says:

I believe it is so very important for me to realize that I AM SO VERY IMPORTANTIN GD’S EYES OF PRAYER that I can pray for myself to live, learn, love and/or care about someone else. And, I know my Awesome GOD loves everyone I pray about also. EVERYONE IN THIS OL’ WORLD IS VERY IMPORTANT TO OUR LORD. and now I know that burdens even bring myself and others closer/
It is okay to have “burdens” that we need help with.

Hey Kelly, I pray for you right now that you feel validated, and strong…to pray for yourself, and for others. Begin with “little steps- make little lists and then make each list alittle longer for yourself, and for others of what to pray about.” I know you can do it!! God does too!!

  45. A. Conley says:

I have sent prayers up to Heaven for all who are needing them. No one should feel as it they are alone or a burden we all share a Christian Heart. Whether your are praying for someone or asking for prayers for your situation know that you are never alone. God hears every prayer no matter who is praying.

We all struggle with so much that life is over whelming at times. People may have health issues for themselves, family member or friend, relationship struggles, financial, jobs, life changing events.
We need to be united in prayer no only for ourselves, family and friends but for this Nation.

God knows our trials and struggles most important he knows your heart.
God will make a way when there seems to be no way.

  46. Christie says:

I dont know why but I always feel guilty asking for prayers for myself, but not others. I really need to break that cycle, I can say this on here but honestly I have never told anyone that before. I have a chronic illness so I deal with everyday issues so I figure people may get tired of hearing it. There’s no cure, but I believe God can do anything! Praise him!!

  47. I like this:
Asking for prayer [ ] is about letting them walk by our side down a path we were never intended to walk alone.

My brother use to tell me I don’t believe in prayer when I said I would pray for him. I would answer back, I do. I wondered what I could say to friends, acquaintances or strangers. I found an answer.

Now I can say to friends that even though they do not believe in prayer I do. I cannot be with them in person but I feel like I am walking with them on their journey when I am praying.

  48. Kathy Zachary says:

Thank you. I needed to hear this. I feel so vulnerable when I open up to others and ask for prayers. Even though I am always willing to help others and pray for others, I am such a private person that I use to keep everything about me and my needs inside of me. I am learning to ask for prayers and that I have many friends that want to help me but they have never known of my needs.

    Thank you for your devotionals.

  49. Stacey Headlee says:

I am struggling right now, and I confess I won’t ask for prayers except for one close friend for I am struggling with depression, and inward/outward anger. Maybe it is menopause, maybe its pride, maybe that the last two years have been such a struggle that I am slowly losing my mind. All, I know is this: I WANT OUT OF THIS PIT!!! I am afraid tomorrow I will go in and find I am fired for losing my temper at a co-worker just because he wasn’t doing things my way. (pride). Sometimes, I wonder about myself. I never doubt God is holy and righteous, but I haven’t been close t o either. I am finally putting to rest a sexual sin that I have been in and justifying. After all doesn’t the worst animal deserve to feel love? Well it wasn’t love on his part, but God loves me and can’t that be enough? God please change me from judgmental to encouraging, from demanding to asking, for strength to end this trial on solid rock, instead of my sinking further into my mire and mud. Forgive me Lord, Help me see nothing but good in everything you have made. In Jesus name Amen. Also, for those who are battling health conditions, bring your sweet whisper to their ears. In Jesus name Amen!

    • Stacey I will be praying for you depression is something I am familiar with. May the Lord help you throught your struggles for you are stronger than you think and you can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.

  50. Praying for all who are struggling and please keep my Mom in your prayers we are going through the journey of Alzheimers and I am truly struggling to cope and deal with it. Thank you and God Bless

  51. I would ask for prayer over my marriage and my husband. I’m in a very difficult marriage with verbal and emotional destruction. I believe prayer changes everything because hears us and sees all. Thank you.

    • I’m praying for you and your marriage. It’s a very difficult place to be-verbal and emotional abuse. I’ve been there and it is truly hard. God sees you and hears your prayers. HUGS to you.

  52. My mother had Alzheimers. It was difficult, But, God is so faithful and so trustworthy. He will be with you always every day.. He cares. I am praying for you and all prayer requests.

  53. My prayer request is for my husband. He is having terrible pains in his side. He’s already had his appendix out (the pain is in the same area). He’s been rechecked by the surgeon quite a while ago. Last week he went back to our primary dr. They are scheduling more appointments with the original surgeon and an urologist. It difficult waiting, I’m not sure if we will end up in the ER. He’s not one to complain so I know it is really bad. Thank you.

  54. Praying for my marriage

  55. I’m bad about asking for prayer because i know so many other people struggle with things far more important (i fear) than my needs. But you are right, just knowing, feeling that we are being supported helps that burden feel not as heavy. Next time i feel like i need prayer, instead of hesitating, i will hit the send button and ask for prayer.

  56. Renee, thank you for sharing this! I would like to ask prayer for wisdom as a parent and blogger. Thank You!

  57. maureen says:

Im fearful to ask…there is shame that I carry at times This shame is overbearing for me and I worry about what other will think. I know better but the feeling is still there. So many times I rely on myself to speak and pray with GOD in these matters

  58. Sandra Rogers says:

Thank you for sharing, prayers for you and your family. I would appreciate your prayers for me, to have self control and walk in the Spirit not the flesh. Thank you so much!

  59. Thank you for these words of wisdom! It was what I needed today.

  60. Thank you for this devotion. Please pray for my family who aren’t following the LORD and for family and myself who are having health issues. Thanks! Dear LORD, i lift Sandra up to You . She would like to have self control and walk in the Spirit. Please help her to hear You voice and give her wisdom in the choices she makes. May she give You the glory in all she does! In Jesus’ name i pray!

    • Heather says:

Lord, you are good and we know that it is your will that Alisa’s family would be saved. Lord, I ask that you would come near them now. Open their eyes and their hearts to the truth of your word. Lord, I ask that you would meet their innermost needs and provide an opportunity for each of them to hear the gospel message and come to a saving knowledge of you. I pray also that you would heal Alisa and her loved ones in body, mind and spirit. I pray that you would come alongside them and give them strength and courage. Guide the doctors hands lord and give them wisdom in treating these health issues that weigh on her heart. Lord Jesus, would you please lighten Alisa’s load today, that she may walk with a renewed sense of your loving presence. Above all, Lord, I ask that your will be done in her life. That she may live for you and glorify you here on the earth. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.

  61. Heather says:

Thank you for these encouraging words. It is so true in my life. I am guilty of denying others the opportunity to share in the work of God because of my own insecurity. My prayer request is for my family, unsaved loved ones and discernment in dealing with difficult situations we are facing. Thank you for praying!

  62. Pamela Starr says:

Thank you for your devotion. I have many things weighing on my mind. Please pray for me to know what My family and I should do. We are very unhappy with the church we are in. We love the church family but don’t agree with several things that the pastor has said. We need guideness.
Dear God I pray for Alisa and her family who aren’t followings. Also, dear Gid I lift her family up to you to heal them. Thank you God. In Jesus name. Amen.

  63. Lord, thank you for giving Renee the words we needed to read today. For the reminder to ask others to pray for our needs just as we pray for their needs. Father, I lift up Alisa family that they may hear Your sweet voice to turn to You. Touch those who are sick and strengthen them. Father, please open my son’s eyes and heart to the truth that I have always loved him and for him to let go of his anger towards me. Amen

  64. Father please help Alisa’s family who do not know you to come to understand who you are and want you in control of their lives. Please meet the health needs of her and family members who need that. Only you can…and you can! Thank you for your blessings.

Please help me to trust you through difficult circumstances. Help me not to fear but to focus on you.

    Thank you for praying women!

  65. At best, we all are needy people in some respect. Thanks for sharing. Blessings and comfort to all who shared.

  66. I need prayer for a guy friend of mine because we both like each other but there’s an age difference between us. He’s younger than me and he’s worried about what people will think. Will you pray that he gets a new perspective because we love each other and want to be with each other. Thank you.

  67. I know I am extremely hesitant to ask for prayers for fear of being criticized which has happened to me twice from these supposed prayer groups you see on TV. So now, I shy away from asking for prayer. When I am going through a storm of life, the last thing I need is someone whose job is to pray instead criticizes me and makes me feel so inferior. I am not perfect and these prayer warriors need to know that everyone is not perfect like they are. I know right now I desperately need a prayer for me but I will not ask for one.

  68. Patricia says:

I need prayer for my nephew who has leukemia he resently had a relapse and we are starting back with hard chemo the last time he had bad reactions to the meds and was put in the ICU . I know prayer is strong and God will heal him soon. I also wanted to thank my cousin who shared this her son went in for surgery and there were huge complication he is doing good now prasie God thank y’all for all y’all do

  69. I still have this original email from back in April flagged. I have a very hard time asking for prayers on myself. Today I really needed this reminder to ask for myself and it be okay.

  70. I need prayer for a dear friend who is suffering from kidney stones after just having surgery for gall stones. She is out of sick days at work and feels the need to keep working. She is in extreme pain. Please pray for quick healing and peace from the strain of working. She has two children at home which makes it difficult to come home and rest after a tough day at school.
Thank you for your prayers and for reminding us how important it is to share our needs as we would want others to feel free to share with us.

  71. Patricia, praying for your nephew. Praying for healing and for peace for the family. My mother had Leukemia and I know the pain. God is our Healer and hears our prayers.

  72. Renee,
This is a blessing. I so enjoy praying as an intercessor. I have never looked at it from their point of view. As I read your words that they might be left out of the joy in sharing I knew I was guilty. Obviously I was reading for a reason. I don’t like to share mine, just in case. Being private has a purpose but not to that point. I always remind people to allow me to bless you when they refuse to accept.
I will not keep my needs to self anymore. Wow, I could have been blessed and blessed someone.
    Thank you.
    Marsha

  73. Praying for the needs above. God is our Healer, he restores, he comforts he guides he leads. He is awesome and yes I needed to read this. I’m the first person who will pray for everyone but at times feel shy to ask for myself. I think I have to be strong how can I ask for help then that makes me weak or lacking in faith. Silly thoughts. But today I have a huge burden and need everyone to help me storm heavens gates. I have a job interview this Friday and I so need this job. Financial struggles will always be but I know I can depend on God. He has always been my provider. I am working as a contract employee but I’m applying for full time permanent. I love the company and would be so happy to land the job. Please help me pray God gives me grace before the panel interviewers. One of my greatest weekends is interviewing. I’ve never been a job hopper and selling myself are not my strong points so I really need your prayers. Thank you in advance.

  74. Loretta Pearson says:

Sandy, praying God will be close to you and meet your needs. I need healing.

  75. Elaine Segstro says:

It is such a blessing to be able to share our fears, concerns, needs, and joys with others. I have a wonderful Bible study group and even though we are not meeting now, we got together 2 nights ago and prayed for our dear sister Luise who will be having a hysterectomy because of endometrial cancer. It was a special time of crying, hugs, love, and peace.

I pray that God will bring healing and peace to her and for her family.

As I come to the end of the school year, I pray that God will give me strength and wisdom and peace as I do reports and end my time with my precious little ones.

  76. I want to thank you for being a teacher Elaine. It is such an important job. I will pray for the end of your school year and Luise.
I would appreciate prayer for my left ankle and foot. They have have been sore since October. I work 12 hour shifts as a nursing assistant. I

  77. Myrinda says:

I want to start by saying THANK YOU for your obiedence in God in Sharing your stories with us & inspiring us to walk into our calling.
I was never a big reader & I’m trying my best to make reading a habit. I know that I’ve been called to lead not just at work but also called to lead in the Kingdom of Gods Minisrty and I let fear set in before I begin.
I’m praying for WISDOM, knowledge & great experiences from God as I go forward in my journey! I bind the spirit of fear before it begin! In the name of Jesus

  78. Myrinda I am praying Romans 8:15 for you:
“The Spirit you received does not make you slaves, so that you live in fear again; rather, the Spirit you received brought about your adoption to sonship. And by him we cry, “Abba, Father.””
You can do all things through Christ!

Please pray for protection for my great nephews – Marc (12), Christian (9) and Jordan(6), to be kept away from their grandfathers family – they do not have a Godly legacy.

  79. Dear God, Thank you for the call you have placed on Myrinda’s life and for her boldness to share. I pray that you would fill her with hope, joy and peace in this calling on the days to come. I pray that you would reassure her that fear does not come from you. I have struggled with fear too and I pray that you would fill us both up with so much of you that we have no room for fear. God I pray that you would fill her with wisdom and show her your path along each step as she needs it. God I pray that she would lean on You throughout this journey You have caller her to and that she would trust in You. God please pour out your favor, protection, and blessing on her. In Jesus name, Amen.
Thank you for righting this Renee and giving us the opportunity to pray for each other and ask for prayer.
I would like to ask for prayer for my business. It has been going backward some days and it can be discouraging. I know God has brought me to this and couldnt let me get it out of my mind. Please pray for me that God would bless my business and turn things around in a mighty way and that I could help my family and other families. Please pray that I would be bold when needed and caring when needed. Please pray that I would be the leader that I need to be and trust for God to bring the increase. Thank you so much!!!

  80. Come With Me, I Love that ! What a wonderful way o express our prayer needs. Truly given to be a blessing. Thank you. t.

  81. Charlene says:

I have always been the one to pray for others. Out of pride rarely asked for prayer for myself. Feeling so hopeless and ashame that I take so many blessings for granted. My family is so in need of prayer today. From health issues to possible job loss it seems these trials will never end. Feeling broken with so much unbelief and hopelessness.

    • suzanne says:

praying for you…I know the feeling of hopelessness…but it is not what God wants for us…nor is it of Him…Praying for strength and encouragement for you and your family….and that your faith is renewed…God is an awesome God and He is with you in the darkness….trust in Him

  82. Thanks for this great insight. I would like a prayer journal to help me organize and get started and be consistent in my effort.

  83. suzanne says:

Please be in prayer for me…I am being attacked on all sides…financial, work, stress, family and relationship. I am a single mom of 4 (20, 18, 17, 14) who has been divorced for over 10 years…I have prayed for someone to come into our lives who would love me and be a wonderful male role model for me kids….I met a man in Sept. and things were perfect…we don’t fight…we were immensely happy and my kids were crazy for him as he was for them….he asked to slow things down at christmas (he has only been divorced about 3 years)…we did…and then we broke up in March….after a few weeks, we saw one another and realized how much we missed one another and things were good…not back together but better….now it seems we are drifting apart further and further…we both have a lot of things coming at each of us…I have been praying and don’t feel that this is over and not giving up….I pray that whatever Eric needs to work out to come back to me and this relationship he works out…and that he will find no peace, satisfaction, happiness until he has returned to me and this relationship….please join me in praying for this.

    • Rhonda Gilbert says:

Suzanne, I pray for you right now and pray God will show you the right path to follow on all of your requests. Financially I definitely understand and pray he supplies your monthly needs . I pray on your mate situation God will either open or close that door completely. If he isn’t the right one just move on God has someone better for you. Father give Suzaane peace over all of this and comfort her during these struggles.

  84. Rhonda Gilbert says:

Thanks for sharing, really needed this today. We are struggling very much with financial issues and need prayer so much. It is very hard to ask for prayer for this matter. I am totally leaning on God for every aspect of my life and thanking him for providing every month just what we need. It is still a struggle not knowing what tomorrow will bring or if we will have any money in 6 months and where we will be…just trusting God.

  85. Abba Father, I lay Rhonda’s financial burdens at your feet. Guide her to persevere through this difficult hardship, never knowing how or when monies will make ends meet. Open her eyes & ears to see & hear your awesome power & love for her & her family.

Father God, my niece & her family need you BIG TIME today. The arrival of Henry Parker is a blessing & tough to handle. Precious baby has been born wt special needs. Prepare your little lamb & family for what’s ahead.
    Philippians 4:13

    • Heavenly Father, we know that this sweet little guy was placed in this family for a reason. Be with each of them as they go through this time of adjustments, not only the lack of sleep and all that a new baby brings with it, but also with his special needs. Please give them the strength and the love that they will need to go through this. Thank you Sweet Lord!

  86. Thank you so much for sharing this today. I know first hand how tough it is to ask for prayers for myself and my family. However, today I am going to ask for prayers for my daughter and her family. They had a little boy about 6 weeks ago. He has not been sleeping and my daughter is exhausted. She took him to the doctor today and she thinks he has MSPI. Since my daughter is nursing, she now has to change her diet completely… no milk or soy protein. These are hidden is so many foods… She has also been trying to find a work at home job that she can do when her husband is home. Unfortunately, there are so many scams that she doesn’t know how to find something legitimate. If she doesn’t find anything in the next week, she will have to go back to her job and they are not “mom friendly”. I truly appreciate any prayers sent up for my daughter.

  87. Hi Rhonda! Praying for you! I understand where you are more than you know. Praying peace and blessings will flood your life!

My prayer request is for me. I would like God to bring a special relationship into my life. After an abusive marriage and even worse divorce, I am tired of being alone. I would like to feel like an adult, desirable woman, not just a part-time Mom.

  88. Kay Parrish says:

I need prayer for my shoulder. I fell October 30 and broke my shoulder. I had surgery in November it failed. In February I had surgery to repair it but infection was present and it couldn’t be repaired. I was sent home with IV antibiotic ever day with nurse coming twice a week to check level of antibiotic. In April I went back for third surgery. The same thing happened infection was still there.Sent home with IV antibiotic the same as last time. I have two weeks more of antibiotic then May 31st I go back to surgeon to schedule the fourth surgery. I’m believing that infection will be gone and shoulder be repaired. I believe in healing.

  89. Thank you for this, Renee. My husband and I are walking through health issues right now and the prayers of our people have been more than I could ever ask for.

  90. Thank you again for the inspiration!!

  91. Rose Blackwell says:

My husband has been extremely I’ll since October and we have been in the hospital with multiple surgeries and ICU stays! I am there! I hesitate to lean on my friends for prayer because I have asked for so many and yet I need them to walk with me in this journey and to be God’s hands and shoulders for me! Thank you for this assrance in this! God is good, all the time God is good!

  92. Dear Jesus, I lift Rose and her precious husband up to You to comfort during this trial, and to give them Your special peace that can come from no other hand, than Yours. Bring her friends and family around her, for the physical love and support she needs right now. Be near, Lord Jesus!!

Dear friends, please pray for a broken relationship between myself and my sister. We need the light and truth of Jesus in our communications, and past hurts, and real forgiveness for the future.

    • I’m praying for you and your sister, debbie!

God, please help debbie and her sister feel your presence as they try to move past some tough things that happened between them. Please help them to take your guidance and begin to see each other as you see them. Please help them and each of us to see that we are all broken people who have hurt others, but that those who reach out and sincerely want a connection to be repaired can do so with your help. There is nothing you cannot repair. Thank you for being the great restorer of souls and relationships. Amen.

For my own family, please pray for guidance financially, as my husband and I are trying to figure out how to support ourselves and our two children in the bay area without sacrificing time together as a family, given that our bills are more than half of our income as educators. Thank you!

  93. Halona Luna says:

  100. Hi Renee,

I am so glad to hear that everything turned out okay for your husband, and that he is doing much better!!

Thank-you for encouraging us to put our prayer requests out there… I am in desperate need of answered prayers right now, and if it’s okay, I will share a little about what’s been taking place….
Please be praying for my Dad and I. My parents divorced when I was 9, and I’m now 46. There have been more situations and events that have led to hurt feelings and frustrations than you could ever imagine. There are 4 of us kids. I have a real sister, a half brother and a step-brother, and almost the entire family is “broken”. We desperately need prayer & healing!! PLEASE be praying for the family of TOM HICE in Oregon!!

  101. Thanks , I’ve recently been searching for info approximately this subject for a while and yours is the best I’ve
discovered till now. But, what about the bottom line?
Are you certain about the source?

  102. I thought this post was fantastic! It really amazed me how well you (Renee) did not walk through this struggle on your own.
I need prayer as I prepare for a BIG phase in life at my local church: being an on call minister/prayer partner. Please pray that I will keep things confidential and that I will love on those who need prayer after the first service. Please also pray that when someone asks for prayer regarding threats or suicide, that I will go to my leader and call 911 right away. This job is a BIG leap of faith from just being on the prayer team online. God has apparently entrusted me with so much MORE in the church as I work to help and be the “hands and feet” of Christ Jesus.

    Thank you,
    Tatiana Grubb

  103. Michelle Bowman says:

I ask for prayers to lead me out of the pit I am in. My husband of almost 18 years (together for 22) left 2 months ago. I found out from a family member yesterday that he says its for good an there is no hope of reconciliation. I have been with him longer than on my own. We met in high school and I went from living at my parent’s to his house. I don’t know any other way in life. We also have a 17 yo son who I know is confused in this time. On top of this I suffer from MS and I’m not sure what my insurance situation will be in the next few months.

I have made it to the point that I just want to give up. I cry out to Jesus constantly. I am so tired of the tears and don’t know how much longer I can go on like this.

  104. Jennifer Christner says:

My husband is starting a new job and the first couple of months are going to be hard financially. Pray that we can trust the Lord in all things.

  107. JoAnna Edwards says:

I need prayer for my confidence. It is wavering and is most times null and void. I’ve been this way all of my life. It has become very comfortable to be insecure and have no confidence in myself. I am reading the book A Confident Heart. I’ve only read the first chapter and I am already blessed by it. I cannot wait to continue.

  108. Penny Isaac says:

I was listening to the radio and herd the story about Renee and went to the web site proverbs31 and I was reading a few thing on the site that I could relate to and then I read about the prayer situation and I feel the same way about adding burdens so I’m asking for prayer for me and my family. I’ve been released from state jail about two weeks and my mind and others telling me all these things I need to do but I promise God that I was going to summit to him and I’m finding this hard to do with all the things I need to do for myself and my 15 year old son without a job and a home. for right now I need strong men and women of God to help keep my promise to God. please pray for me

  109. God has brought me here tonight. I usually don’t ask for prayer because so many passes judgment without knowing the full story. But God wants me here so here I am. please pray for me to trust in God. My life is falling apart all around me and the devil has been on the attack. I feel like I am drowning with no one to help me. So please say a prayer for me.

  110. Please pray for me to overcome my fears of rejection and lack of confidence. This is my first time asking for prayer here. I’m sometimes embarrassed to let anyone know how I’m feeling, so please pray for me.

    • Sharon Myers says:

Sarah you don’t have to feel embarassed we all have experienced these thoughts and feelings. Know that you are not alone, you just have to find ways to build up your self-confidence. You are a child of the most High God and he does not give us a Spirit of fear, but of love and a sound mind. Matthew 6:33 says to Seek ye first the kingdom of God and his righteousness and all things will be added unto you. Walk in this verse, knowing that with God all things are possible to him/her that believeth.

  111. Sharon Myers says:

Please pray for my grandson AJ who has been diagnosed with Nephrotic Syndrome (kidney disease in infants), high blood pressure, an enlarged heart, and asthma at the age of one. I ask that he be healed if it be God’s will an that he can live a normal healthy life. I also pray for Sarah to overcome her fears and walk in total confidence with her head lifted high knowing who she belong to. She is an heir to the kingdom of God and worth more than rubies. May you touch her dear God and let her know that she is your child and that she doesn’t have to feel anything but the power and love from you. In Jesus Name I pray Amen
