When Concerns Consume You {a promise & a prayer}

Prayer.Days&Decisions (1)

Do you ever have days when your mind is crowded with thoughts that are competing for your attention?

Yesterday was one of those days for me. I woke up with countless tasks on my to-do list and every one felt urgent, which made it almost impossible to figure out what was most important.

It felt like countless concerns were cutting in front of each other trying to be the first in line.

My head started to ache by noon, and I knew I had to make a decision – either I could pray and talk through each concern with Jesus and ask Him to help clear the crowd in my thoughts. Or, I could let my thoughts keep fighting it out and become paralyzed by the process.

Maybe you’re in that same place this week. If so, I wanted to share a verse I’ve been holding onto:

“Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:6-7, New Living Translation

And here’s a prayer I wove together to help me do just that:

Lord, I want You to be first in line, leading my days and my decisions. When concerns consume me and worry comes, remind me to pause to tell You what I need and wait on YOU to lead. I long for Your peace to surpass my understanding and for Your promises to guard my heart and my mind as I live in {and follow after} You. Amen.
