Living #FREE

Freedom. We long for it. We fight for it. We will do anything to get it.

Yet sometimes we forget to live in it!

This weekend while our family celebrated the freedom and independence of our country, I was reminded what freedom means and how easily I take it for granted, especially as a Christ-follower. Yet Jesus said, “If the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.“John 8:36

In Christ we are free!

  • Free from guilt that weighs us down and sin that holds us back.
  • Free from labels that define us and doubts that limit us.
  • Free from grace-less expectations and obligations.

It was for freedom that Christ set us free. (Galatians 5:1). Let’s take hold of this truth, and LIVE #FREE in the power of HIS promises and the purpose of His plans for our lives!

FREEDOM from Mommy-Guilt

NMPK Cover with Chapman name

Do you look at other families who seem so “put together” and wonder why your’s doesn’t isn’t? Does mommy-guilt over your child’s “issues” ever keep you from enjoying motherhood and where your kids are in their journey of growing up?

There have been times when I could answer “yes” to both questions. And during those days or weeks, or months, I miss out on what God has for me as a mom.

One of the best gifts we can give ourselves is GRACE to have an imperfect family and be an imperfect mom. And one of the best gifts we can give our children is to set them FREE to be all that God has created them to be—not forcing them to live out our dreams or comparing them to our friend’s kid.

Jill Savage and Kathy Koch have written a
guide to help parents truly appreciate their kids. One thing I love about this book is their goal to teach us how to study and
become an expert on our children, knowing that we cannot fully embrace them until you
truly know them.

In No More Perfect Kids, Jill Savage and Kathy Koch equip parents with the tools and perspective to:
  • Identify and remove the Perfection Infection from our parenting.
  • Really know each child so we can fully embrace their unique design.
  • Release our children from unrealistic expectations.
  • Answer the questions our kids are silently asking in a way that gives them the courage and freedom to be themselves.

Written in a passionate, candid, and personal way, the authors
will instill within you hope and contentment. You’ll be inspired to apply the practical,
realistic, and relevant ideas and tactics Jill and Kathy share. (Leaders Guide included in back of book.) And thanks to Jill and Kathy’s generous publisher, I’ve got 5 copies to give away!!

Comments

  1. Trish Woodson says:

    either

  2. Chasity Spotts says:

Either and the area where I need I more growth in is my spiritual life; being patient, hearing from God, impacting the lives of others, effective praying.

  3. Kristine powell says:

    Either : )

  4. Carrie Vallee says:

Ilove books. I cannot get enough reading – now to just find the time. 🙂

  5. I would love to have either. I have two beautiful daughters with my oldest leaving for college in a few weeks. This transition will be difficult for the whole family but hardest on the youngest as she and her sister have been inseparable these past two years. My goals are freedom from anxiety and worry and growth in my spiritual life. God bless you!

  6. Christina says:

EITHER. The area of my Christian walk I need to examine is my Faith. I need to understand and constantly rember that walking in Faith is first an obedience to God. Then after you have that obedience, then the understanding will come!

  7. Either! 🙂 What a wonderful gift!

  8. Hi Renee!
I feel the place I need to grow the most is letting go of my fears. It holds me back from everything, even enjoying life and family to the fullest. It’s becoming a hindrance and I am praying everyday for deliverance. I feel the conference calls will be a great blessing to start me on my journey! Thanks!
    Tia

  9. GInger M. says:

Book, please. I would like to feel less obligated and be able to say no.

  10. Sherry Potter says:

Thank you for by your insights! I would love the parenting book!!

  11. Conference calls and I need growth in my spiritual life

  12. Christine says:

Either…I need help remembering God is in control and turn to Him when I have anxiety over my life as well as for my children. Either will help guide me and speak volumes to me so i can become a better mom, wife, daughter, sister and friend.

  13. Christine Hunsucker says:

It would bless me to win either. Thanks for the opportunity:) As my children are in middle and high school now my hearts desire is to prepare them for God’s plan for their future , not the worlds and discernment to know Him. As my children’s needs change, my life, my ministry changes too. To dive into God’s plan for my future and leave my insecurities behind will be a blessing!

  14. Latisha says:

I would love to win the conference calls. I have been feeling quite trapped lately and have been thinking on how Christ has set me free, but I feel like I can’t get to it. Maybe this would help me to have a clearer perspective. Thanks for the opportunity!

  15. Josephine Blassingame says:

I would love to have a BOOK! That way I can go back over and over and find new things that God will reveal to me. Also gives me something that I could bless others with. Book please! God bless and thank you!!

  16. Michelle D. says:

Book. I would like growth in my spiritual life and freedom from “mommy guilt”. Thanks for all your insights- such a blessing in my life.

  17. Either. Although my children are grown, I am sure the books would be helpful to me too. I still struggle with labels, and with judgment. My heart knows God’s word, but I am still working on letting go of all the years of feeling that I would be punished every time I messed up. I have been taught so much about God’s grace, I thank him each day for what I am learning.

  18. Peggy Cooper says:

We do serve an awesome and amazing God and His Grace is sufficient for us. But it seems we so often
Forget that very thought. Love your bible studies on line. May God continue to Bless your ministry.
Would love to win “Limitless Life” conference series.

  19. Jill Bass says:

I would love to have either!

    • Jacinta says:

My sons are kind of old grown ups, I wish I had these resources when they were little and teenagers. I don’t want either. Reading makes me feel bad, I only read devotionals on the computer. I am living by myself and feel very alone, the only friend I have around is the computer.
The Lord bless you and your loved ones and your ministry

  20. Jennifer says:

    I want a Limitless Life!!

  21. Michelle says:

I would love this book! I am both blessed and challenged with a blended family… I constantly seek Godly wisdom and insight on how best to raise all of my kids.

  22. Chandra Smith says:

    Either

  23. Mary Beth says:

No more perfect kids. Who doesn’t welcome some positive advice on raising these kids we love so much, but sometimes have such a difficult time understanding. Thanks for the opportunity.

  27. EITHER — I would love to read both of these books.

  28. Katherine White says:

Either. As my oldest is getting married this fall, I have been reflecting and questioning my walk and my parenting. What are my stumbling points? Do I hold unrealistic expectations of myself, my husband, my kids? What legacy am I passing on? Is it one of freedom or bondage? Am I a chain breaker or a chain maker? With 4 young ones still at home these have become very important questions in my mind. I would love some help and direction.

  29. Either

  30. Diana Muckelrath says:

Either! Both will be A BLESSING!

  31. I would love the book. I have ADD, so I definitely need something I can go back to for the info!!! 🙂

You are more than your past..

  38. Either.

  39. Rebecca Rodriguez says:

I would like to win the book. I gave four kids and feel like I could do better or am I to hard on them. Reading books about children are great. I am also a teacher and wondering maybe this will help in both done how. I am always praying to be a better mom. And being a pastors wife you think your kids need to be perfect. Lol Thanks I hope I win this book. It would mean a lot.

  40. Limitless Life

  41. Either – I would appreciate either giveaway! As a single mom who’s also an entrepreneur, I understand the challenges of wanting to have a “perfect” child while also figuring out your purpose in life… I am learning each day that God speaks to me in a variety of ways – and through different channels. Should He chose to use either channel to reach me (the conference calls or the books), then I am open… Speak Lord, Your servant is listening… Blessings!

  42. Kendra Seaton says:

Book please. I need more freedom in following what God wants me to do instead of other people. Loved your no more perfect moms book – can’t wait to read no more perfect kids ( have 3 kids, 6, 8 and 11) thanks!

  43. Melanie Sparks says:

I would love to win the parenting book, the stress we put on ourselves to be “perfect” moms is crazy..
I need to learn to let go of mommy guilt!

  44. I am interested in the conference calls. I struggle with guilt and shame from my past. It has taken away my freedom to live without fear and anxiety.

  45. I would like the book to share with my daughter. I feel it will help her deal with the struggles she is going through with her children. Thank you!

  46. Jackie H says:

I’d love to win the books! I need to live in the freedom of Christ and not continually live in the shadow of last sins.

  47. Limitless Life is the book for me! I so need to Let go and let God! I struggle as a Christian mom, needing everything perfect…

  48. Sandy Moore says:

Just as carpenters use measuring devices to mark sure each pieces fits, we measure ourselves by our own self-induced standards. Thank you for your reminder that the Cross frees us to live by only one standard – our loving, holy God’s!
    Can’t wait for book/seminar.
    Thanks for sharing.

  49. First of all, thank you so much for this opportunity and offer, and for sharing your ministry with us. I always look forward to reading your blogs in my email inbox! As for this offer, although they are both awesome gifts, for me I would love the “No more perfect kids” book for a few different reasons. As a mom who is still struggling with her own perfectionism (or lack thereof), and now have been so very blessed by the gifts of raising our boy/girl twins, I find it a constant struggle to not project that perfectionistic personality trait onto them…especially because for me anyway, ever since they were born I learned to parent in such an organized, structured way. I want to truly LEARN each of my children… Learn what they love, who God created them to be, nurture their passions and creativity… I don’t want my anxieties to squelch the fire that God has placed in their hearts or spirits. I want us all to enjoy this time in our lives and have pleasant memories, while I leave room for God to continue molding the beautiful masterpieces that my children already are.

Thank you again for this opportunity and God bless you and your ministry!

  50. I would prefer the book.

  51. Heather says:

Limitless Life! 🙂 This is definitely an area where I need to grow!

  52. The book! I feel that Mommy guilt all the time!

  53. Novella says:

Either, the area I need growth in is letting go!

  54. Limitless Life series – I definitely need help in this area!

  55. Jesse Haley says:

EITHER!!! I WOULD LOVE THIS FOR ME AND MY SON[:

  56. BOOK – I would love to get my hands on that book. This parenting thing is a lot tougher than I imagined it. But I also find that most of the time, when things feel really complicated, its me making them that way. Will my kids still learn to love Jesus if I can’t get myself together for family devotions? If I compromise with my 5 year old about not wearing collared shirts to church, am I letting him be the boss too much? If I force my boys outside to play and they hate it, am I trying to make them into “little me’s” and not allowing them to be themselves? What if I can’t afford private school, or home school? What if I can’t stick to a chore chart? How do I balance wanting time with them after work with not always being their source of entertainment so they can learn to play on their own? Ahhhhhh!!!! Jesus, let them just see YOU in my life. Please take my failures and somehow use them to bring us all closer to you. Fill the many many gaps in my parenting. I love those boys with all my heart. Thank you for choosing me to be their Mom. Amen!

    • Jodi Grubb says:

You just took my exact feelings/concerns and put them into words! Praying God fills both our hearts with peace and joy each day as we journey through this parenting thing.

  57. I would love the Limitless Life series. Upon reading the first two parts, I knew that was the one I needed. I have trouble forgiving myself and moving on from my past.

  58. Beth Koerber says:

I would LOVE the book, please! I have 2 young boys (5 & 8) and already I am feeling like I have no idea now to parent and raise them to be Godly men!

  59. Renée Cornelius says:

I need a Limitless Life. I limit myself by listening to the devil’s lies about how I am not worthy or capable even though I know the truth. He always brings back my failures and plays on my weaknesses. I want to experience freedom and be able to live a limitless life.

  60. Lesa Fletcher says:

I’d like to win anything from Limitless Life. I’ve just completed the book with a P31 small online study group. It’s my prayer to share this life changing study with others. God bless you in your desire to share the Word~Blessings

  61. Brittany B. says:

EITHER, I could use both. I have a feeling my expectations for my child are really high but I keep thinking “I dont want her to have to go through what I went through”. Help haha

  62. Lisa B. says:

I love to read so a new book would be great.

  63. Melissa says:

Either. Thank you for being you and thank you for sharing your ministry. You have no idea how you have blessed me and my family just with your devotionals. I am looking forward to reading other material you have. God bless you!

  64. Jodi Grubb says:

The book sounds like something I desperately need to read! Thank you for the opportunity!

  65. Courtney J says:

Hi Renee! I desperately NEED any and everything from Limitless Life. I want to live in freedom, however, I keep holding myself in bondage from all my mistakes and my past. I feel as if I have messed up my life to the point of no repair and I am a waste of space.

  66. LIMITLESS LIFE! God has turned my life upside down…from my broken childhood of self-doubt…to now being called to love and to mentor collage-age young women. This series would be a direction and a hope for many young ladies who see what the world is calling them to but they are choosing the higher calling…Jesus Christ! Proverbs 3:5-7

  67. I love reading, so books are better. I need help in on my guilt areas and spiritual growth

  68. Book No perfect kids please. I am in the midst of three teenage boys all different and need help to raise them the way God created them to be. Thank you

  69. I would love the books. I love to read and the books encourage me and help me to be more confident in Christ and not in others. Thank you for all you do. God bless

  70. Marilyn says:

    Either.

  71. Conference call. Freedom from unforgiveness.

  72. Melinda says:

    Limited Life!

  73. Michelle Renee says:

Book, please. As a ministry wife, sometimes I feel like we’re all under the microscope. My kids (and us parents) are just typical people – far from perfect. I need to be reminded that it’s ok.

  74. Jenny Humphrey says:

Hi. Thankyou for these amazing online Bible Studies you have provided. I would love to win The Limitless Life Conference Call Series…… I tried to be part of the study but due to extenuating circumstances I missed great chunks of it 🙁 Im a missionary in Africa) At this very time….. 82. Gaylene says:

  87. Gennie Griffin says:

Book! It would be so freeing to not worry about anyone’s expectations except for what God wants from me and my parenting.

  88. I would love to receive the conference calls. I am a wife, mother of two very busy sports kids (on the road constantly), full time accountant, photographer by hobby, and the list goes on…

Always trying to find balance and let God rule and reign in my heart and in my life. What we put into our mind and hearts, it comes out in our lives.

  92. Anita C says:

Renee, I am a mother of 5 and Grammy of 18 who was brought up Jewish: I found Jesus almost 7 years ago, and have been so close to the Holy Spirit in my walk with God, and all of your books and publications have been so endearing to me. I still have 2 daughters who have 7 children between them who are non-believers who I need to help “find their way” to the beauty of Lord and His Word, and I would either love to get your books or attend your conferences to assist me in that quest. Either way, your assistance is greatly appreciated, and I will seek them on my own if I do not win! God bless you, Renee!

Limitless Life, need to release myself from years of bad labels!

  97. Book please. I was looking back through my prayer journal this weekend and noticed that since 2007 I have been praying/struggling with the same thing. Taking/finding time to enjoy being with my kids. I feel like its always a battle with them and never any fun…..part of it is me and my attitude…which I know and pray about…and have been since at least 2007.

  98. Sara Grivas says:

Would love to win the limitless life one! It seems to fit right where I am stuck since the deth of my father. Thanks for the chance.

  100. Marsha Lehan says:

I would like to win FREE to Live a Limitless Life in Christ.
My first 1 yr and 7 months since my husbands death my faith was strong and I talk to god several times a day. I went to church when I did not have to work , and I worked with seniors to give back. Now I have quit my caregiver job because I need to make more money to save my house. When I have large expenses God always provides a way for me to survive. The problems I have face have made me weary and although I pray that God will stay with me I have drifted a bit. That is not to say I have lost my belief . Igo to a church that really does not make me feel welcome, even though I love the message, therefore have miss church allot lately. I really need a new church. I read my bible but some nights I feel I do not understand what I have read. These confrence is just what I need. Thank you!

  101. Cheryl Rose says:

    Conference calls – please!

  102. No More Perfect Kids. This is an area that I struggle with.

  103. LaTasha says:

I would like the book. I need spiritual discipline with finances. I am learning how to be a good stewardess over the money God blesses me with. I have grown so much spiritually but I have realized that God wants me to be spiritually complete in all areas of my life. Procrastination is an issue that I’ve allowed to control my life and as of yesterday, I made a decree with God that I will no longer allow procrastination to hold me back. Now I have to walk in that and work hard everyday. I am learning to accept my niece as my own child. She has been with us since 2011. We have a 3 year old and sometimes I notice that I wil do somethings for my child that I don’t or won’t do for my niece. She is 18 now. Glory be to God, we got her through high school and now we are prepping for college. My husband and I are like her parents, she has no one but us. Thanks in advance for your prayers.

  104. The conference call series would be amazing to win because I feel like I still label myself with worldly labels instead of biblical ones. I want to break the cycle and redefine how I see myself so it aligns with how God sees me!

  105. Judy Battle says:

Conference calls. My daughter is grown with children of her own now. I feel it is my time to live limitless with God!

  116. Book please. I struggle everyday to find balance between work, wife and mom and sadly feel like I fail at all 3 at the same time. Just when I think I’ve got it, something happens and how I should react is far from how I actually do. Thank you for your ministry!!!

  117. Sharon Byrd says:

Have two teenagers. Need to learn how to let them grow and make decisions on their own and to trust that they are in God’s hands.

Thank you so much for the offer and for the constant encouragement.

  121. Mellisha says:

  122. Denise S. says:

Limitless Life because, well, I’m not quite living that way now and I surely believe God would want me to live Limitless.

  123. I would love to win this for my daughter! She is trying to get pregnant and I know that she will need this type of ministry!

  124. Jennifer says:

I would feel very blessed to win the conference call! The area I feel I need the most help is my spiritual life and trusting in the Lord and letting go of my past sins. I think that is what is holding me back from being a better mom, wife, and friend. I long to let go of guilt over past mistakes and past wrong choices and live in true freedom, as your post so encouraged.

  125. I would like the Limitless Life. To be living a Limitless life for Jesus would be the best!

  126. Either – I’ll let God pick for me 🙂 I think I can use help in either area! Thanks for the chance!

  127. Jessica F says:

I love both but I think the freedom from mommy guilt would help me. I am expecting my third child (a total surprise, thought it was menopause 🙂 ) and I keep thinking that I am not doing a good job with the first two and what am I going to do with this third one. Thanks and blessings!

Dear Renee, I have struggled with graceless expectations since I have been saved and came to know the Lord. It’s about 30 years. I have had my ups and downs and in and outs with God and our relationship. He has always been with me through these situations. Guilt is a big factor and not really understanding the real meaning of grace in Jesus. Satan always throws my past in my face…but I have gotten better with this, by quoting scripture and talking to the Lord about Him and his goodness and forgiveness. Limited Life would be very helpful with my daily struggles of guilt and grace. In Christ, Rebecca

I would like the Mommy book please! I deal with this daily. I see how I want my children to live and not thinking they are one and six expect them to do things just perfect now. Thinking they should ‘know’ what to do and what not to do all the time. i try to be open with them and listen to them and keep busy with them but then I feel guilty because i neglect the house. Then I feel guilty about the house and neglect the children. It’s a daily struggle with so many issues. I think reading this will open my eyes to they ways God wants me to be.

No more perfect kids. Hubby and I are raising two grand kids and we are struggling with the modern day issues. It is much harder to “handle” them than it was our five. Times have changed and schools have changed and it is just so hard. The kids are sibling, boy 14, girl 13 and they have been with us since infants. It just seems nothing makes a difference with the actions we use to discipline. Next week they are going to a Christian camp for the first time and they are really excited about it. And they attend youth and church with us each Sunday. I just need some help on what ever it is I need to change. They fight like cats and dogs and don’t have respect for each other. They both have made a decision to ask Jesus to be their Savior but need to grow more in His love.
